Cokesbury Village is a nursing home. The area code (19707) in Delaware, where Cokesbury Village is located in, has an average safety rating based on recent crime statistics. The Cokesbury Village has a very good hospital, Christiana Hospital, located nearby, which scored a 89 out of 100 in its most recent Medicare review. The Cokesbury Village's nearest hospital is 7 miles away. There are 6 similar care providers within a 10 mile area. It provides medical nursing service for seniors with serious illnesses or disabilities twenty-four hours a day, delivered by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nurse aids.

Nursing care facilities cater to several types of patients: some patients require short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; others require long-term nursing and medical supervision. In addition, some nursing homes offer specialized care programs for Alzheimer's or other illnesses, or short-term respite care for frail or disabled persons when a family member requires a rest from providing care in the home. Please note that you can help compare nursing homes by looking at the Medicare ratings of a given facility (Medicare has a 5-star rating system for comparing nursing homes). There are various ways for paying for care in a nursing home. Make sure you know your loved one's Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, and understand how you can use tools like long term care insurance to pay for nursing home care.

Also, Cokesbury Village is an assisted living facility. Assisted living facilities are an apartment-style habitat designed to focus on providing assistance with daily living activities. They provide a higher level of service for the elderly which can include preparing meals, housekeeping, medication assistance, laundry, and also do regular check-in's on the residents. Basically, they are designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home facilities. When thinking about how to pay for care, assisted living facilities are generally less expensive than nursing homes, if assisted living is a viable option for your loved one.

Also, Cokesbury Village is a Senior Community. Senior communities are for seniors who can take care of themselves. It is often a set of apartments in a variety of sizes from studios to large two bedrooms, where seniors live independently, but may receive additional services like transportation, pools, a convenience store, bank, barber/beauty shop, resident laundry, housekeeping, and security, are all services and amenities that may be provided there.

Also, Cokesbury Village is a skilled nursing facility (SNF). It is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing care and related services for residents who require medical or nursing care; or rehabilitation services for the rehabilitation of injured, disabled, or sick persons.

Skilled nursing facilities cater to patients who either need short-term rehab while recovering from surgery; or require long-term nursing and medical supervision. Skilled Nursing facilities are very often associated with area hospitals.

Review of Cokesbury Village
My grandmother is currently in hospice at Cokesbury. Last week my father moved into short-term care at another facility and after touring different facilities I felt I should write a review on Cokesbury to reiterate what a great place it is. The food is better, the grounds are better, the programs are better and the staff attention seems to be better. But what really strikes you is that the residents seem much happier and comfortable, even those with the worst disabilities. It's the next best thing to being taken care of at home.
