My dad was at this facility for a 21 day stay and had great care the therapy department was very careing and pro active with his theraoy. The CNA staff was always willing to help out. Dad stated that the food he received was very good and if he did not like something staff would offer an alternate food. The nuses always answered questions that I had and was prompt with his medications

My mother was at the Oaks on Parkwood for knee surgery. I found all the staff at the facility very loving and helpful. I know there has been some bad reviews like a year ago or longer, I believe that you have to weed out the bad in order to replace with the good. I would definitely bring my love one back there. My mother was very satisfied.

The staff at the Oaks are so caring and always treated dad as one of there own family members. I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

OMG The Oaks is a wonderful place to have your loved one. My mother has been here almost 14 months and I would not have her anywhere else. Staff very responsive to all my concerns. The meals are great, rooms are big and clean. The place just keeps getting better and better.

I'm sad to see things haven't changed since others' reviews.
For the love of all that is holy, DO NOT put anyone in their rehab facility. My 95-year-old grandfather came here to recover from a pelvic fracture. We chose this place because we had been so pleased with the independent and assisted living care and facilities. We would rate that an 11 out of 10.
But their rehab is AWFUL! While the facility is clean and the staff are pleasant, the nurses are short-handed.
However, it is their NURSING ASSISTANTS THAT ARE HORRIBLE, UNCARING, PEOPLE. They would refuse to change Granddad's diaper when he asked (he had to wear it due to the fracture). In the month and a half that he was there, he was found dehydrated THREE times. The last time resulted in an emergency room visit where we weren't sure he'd make it. The last straw was that not FOUR DAYS after that ER scare, he was found on the floor at 9 p.m. My mom had asked the nursing asst. to put him to bed at 6:45 p.m., and they said they would. But they didn't. So when they check at 8:30, he was still in his chair. Then at 9, a nurse walking by saw him on the floor. The poor man was so exhausted he had fallen asleep and slipped out of his chair. So that was ANOTHER ER visit to make sure he was okay, which, thank God, he was. We were able to move him out the next day.
Until the owners are willing to invest money in hiring more staff, and better-qualified staff, this AWFUL rehab facility will NEVER reach the high quality of care that its sister facilities offer.
You would be an IDIOT not to listen to this review and the others of this place. PLEASE, PLEASE, check out the ratings and stories of others. If they are currently there, my prayers are with you that you can get them out SOON before you have the HORRIBLE experience we had! Do Not leave them alone for long there!

If I could give this place a ZERO I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE THERE! The "care" is horrible, many of the staff are rude and uncaring, health standards are not met, generally BAD experience. Food quality is poor, proportions small.
Since moving to another facility, we have found numerous other people who had like experiences but we did not know before going to The Oaks. I am hoping this review will save someone else a lot of heartache and the trouble of making a move from one place to another.
I think this company concentrates on "presentation" rather than quality care. The grounds are nice but the care inside the building is not. Don't be fooled...go somewhere else!

Response: My family is in the same situation.
Has anyone found a good skilled nursing facility
    in Birmingham???

Response: I am a licensed care provider been in business since 2008 we have not had any complaints we care for you loved one as it is our own. I am an Independent Owner Licensed & Bonded and Insured. Infinity Sitting Service is the company to turn to in need of special caring and around the clock care.

our family is so disappointed and concerned about the quality of care our family member is receiving.
After repeated discussions with the R.N. in charge,
basic care eg. food removed under finger nail, diapers not being changed after 45min of request, dentures not being cleaned. We are trying to find another facility.
Personal care is the most important but a host of other unprofessional things have happened eg. cloths missing a staff members purse and clothing found in the closet. I could go on but I think you must have the picture of a nursing facility in need of a major reorganization.

Response: I had a relative to go and sit with a patient because the patient was found at 5am out walking and the facility said that patient need a sitter but when the patient daughter got off work and decided to remove her mom from the facility because she had heard of some mistreating of the patients that were residents their
