if you do not have to use this facility for a family member, DONT. food is horrible on a continuous basis and often there are problems with kitchen maintenance that require residents food to be served on Styrofoam/throwaway containers. expensive facility for such an old building and with such little staff. Nurses TRY to genuinely care for patients but are overwhelmed by number of residents per staff member. interaction with residents if at bare minimum (again, staff per resident ratio) and there is little concern by ADMINISTRATION for immediate attention to ANY concerns. if private care were a financial option there is no way i would have my family member here or at any other Diversicare facility...they ALL have the same staff to resident issue, food is horrible (consists of a lot of pre packaged/frozen garbage that is worse than the cheapest tv dinners you can buy). keep in mind: FOOD is the one highlight for most of the residents since they have so little else to do all day. Administration dances around problems presented to them by family members and nothing is done to improve conditions. STATE HEALTH INSPECTIONS are NOT done yearly (at some facilities, every other year or 2nd yr seems to be enough for Alabama standards).
