Please be aware of this local news story regarding Millennium Health:

"A Huntsville nursing home is slapped with a termination of funding notice after the death of a patient.

Medicare inspectors discovered serious issues inside the Millennium Nursing and Rehab Center.

Their findings after a death, a complaint, and then a termination - all related to an incident at the nursing home in 2015.

The 6-page report from Medicare inspectors say an employee's actions, or lack thereof, to a resident in distress put that resident in immediate jeopardy, resulting in the resident's death.

The completed report is dated Sept. 24, 2015. and spells out events leading up to the death of a patient."

07/15/14 My mother is leaving this place today after only staying 5 nights. Out of those 5 nights the staff "forgot" to bring her dinner 3 times. One of those times, 3 hours later she got a partial meal (reheated) with nothing to drink, another time the meal looked one of the staff's left over cold sandwich, and the other time she received her normal meal only about 2 hours late. She had to wait numerous times 1 - 2 hours after making a request for pain medications. This place had good PT people but that is about it. When we made the decision to take her out the director told her that the Doctor would have to sign for release & he would not do so until the next morning. If the Doctor doesn't sign the release my mom would be held responsible for the entire bill as her insurance would not pay. This is their way of holding her hostage. The director pled her case for another chance but my brother-in-law spent the night with her & as soon as the Doctor comes in to sign the release we are taking her home. The room was fairly clear but the bathroom trash was never emptied (in 5 days) & piled up 2 foot above the brim in the corner. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Someone told me this was the best Huntsville had to offer - I would sure hate to see the worst.

Yes, this place is clean, and yes, it looks nice, but that's the best you can say for it. Several of the staff members were rude and treated my family member poorly. I can honestly see why this facility has only 2 stars. Notice that the reviewers who gave it five stars did so after just visiting it, BEFORE their family member arrived there. I also mistakenly judged this book by it's cover. But once there my loved one was, for the most part, neglected. Please do your research before leaving someone you care about in this center. There are much better facilities close by. Thank goodness, my loved one is now in a better nursing home.

Response: I wrote this review and gave it an overall 2 not 3. Why it says 3, I have no idea. I would never have given Millenium 3 stars.

Response: Agree with you completely!!!

I visited several in Huntsville before chosing Millenium. It was by far the cleanest one I had seen. I did not have an appointment but was met with open arms to take a tour. Not knowing you are coming is a welcome sign when you walk in and see staff and patients talking, laughing together. Everyone had a smile. The place was immaculant from front to back. The care and attention to my mother's needs has far exceeded any of the rumors you hear about these facilities. I would highly recommend it to anyone and my mother were to have another reason for rehab. this would be the place we would come. The staff is so involved they know the patients and their family members. It is open 24 hours a day. I go sometimes before work at 5:30A.M. AND things are still the same. THIS FACILITY IS HIGHLY UNDERRATED!!

Response: I wrote this review and after my mom's stay I stand behind my rating. The only thing lacking was the food was not good but the care and cleanliness provided was. I am sorry others did not get the same treatment.

I felt like I was in a 3rd world health facility here. It is all about profit and most of the staff is putting in their hours as quickly as possible, and offering little support. I can't recommend this place to anyone. One of the social services ladies didn't seem to want patients to come there, making me think she is secretly working for some other facility.

Having visited 7 SNFs in Madison County today looking for a place for my adopted mom to get 20 days of rehab following hospitalization, I can tell you that Millenium is the nicest facility I visited. Bright, clean, spacious facility. Well cared for and engaged residents. Very friendly, naturally caring and helpful staff. Great rehab areas and staff. Oh and did I say CLEAN and smelled great which was not the case in one of the Medicare five star facilities I visited today. The star rating of Millenium is a real mistake. They should be a 10 if the 5 I saw was a 5! Can't wait for my mom to get there and get her feet back on the ground.
