Maybe this place will change now that they finally fired the Administrator Mark as he was nothing but a liar as an employee if he did not like you no matter how well you did your job he would lie and get you fired I am so HAPPY it finally happened to him that makes 2 nursing homes he was fired from (last 2 jobs) East Mesa Care Center for table dancing with the girl staff and it got posted on you tube but that's how he is I feel so sorry for his wife as she knows nothing of what he does when away from her hopefully nobody else hires him in this state

On January 8th 2014 I was admitted to the citadel to recieve I.V. antibiotics my stay overall was great, all of my nurses except for 1 was good to me, they were all very kind and always gave me my medications on time. they all helped me with any questions or concerns I had and they were all very good to my Family as well. I had my own room and the staff even made a exception for my Husband to spend the night one night due to our vehicle situation. my Family was allowed to stay as late as they wanted to and never made them leave. there were a few things i didnt care for during my 3 week stay one of which being that I am a smoker and i was only permitted to smoke 4 times per day and had to have a babysitter sit with us during our smoke breaks. i do understand that there are some residents that are not as responsible as others and have tried in the past to set themselves on fire and that is why you have someone out there watching the smokers, I am in my 40's and I am able to smoke without having someone watch over me. the other thing that I didnt care for was that all the activities were all designed for the older folks over the age of 60 and no activities for the younger residents, which made it that much more boring for me to be there. the last thing that i did not care for was the food and the portions I would always walk away from meals still hungry and i had to have my husband bring me outside snacks just to hold me over till meal time plus the food was not very tasty at all. even the hospital had better food then you had, I admit that if you were hungry it was food but the food was not very good at all. I loved all the Nurses except for 1 night nurse I found her to be very rude and acted like I was a big burden by being there and having to the staff care for me was beneath her. i did enjoy my time there for the most part and I would recommend this place to anyone in need of a care center. Diana Vickers was 100% awesome to me and my husband. the staff itself was also caring and overall very pleasant to be around and for that I thank all of them. I have never been in a care center before so I had no Idea what to expect and I cried for the first 2 days I was there I missed my kids and Husband and knowing that I could not go home for 3 weeks made me very sad, but the Citadel care staff made my stay that much better. Thank you for all you did for me during my stay there. I did want to recognize some of the nurses that I thought were so good to me. they are: Denae, Wesley, Stephen, Noy, Tara,& adrainna. the one nurse that I did not get along with or care for was Stella. I also want to say thank you to Maryanne and Colette in P.T. My Name is Amy I was in room 313-2 from Jan 8th to Jan 30th Thanks again for making my stay at the Citadel such a good stay. Amy Smalley

The staff at Citadel were very caring and wonderful to me. I never thought that they weren't there and the food was good. The therapy and nurses were kind and I didn't want to go home.

Not a good place to put your loved one.

We placed my dad here after his stroke. The experience was awful. Although the staff was friendly and I loved many of the nurses, they are completely understaffed and the nurses can't possibly do their best job with so many patients. I was or another family member was there for many hours everyday and still the quality of care so lacking. One day they had put my dad in a wheelchair in the morning for his physical therapy and when I came back later in the afternoon he was still sitting in the chair and he had soiled himself, I was furious. Because of the stoke, his left side was affected which kept him from being able to hold himself up for long periods of time in the chair and yet again I went in to his room one evening and he had been sitting in that chair for hours and he told me that his neck and back were killing him. It was totally unacceptable. We also had to request 3 times to see the Dr. and never did see the Dr. only the Nurse Practitioner. They were also supposed to make a follow up appointment with my dad's nuerologist which they never did do. He became very sick and was moved to the hospital and yet two days later the front desk was still telling visitors what room he was in but of course he wasn't there. His visitor's would ask where he was and the front receptionist didn't even know and when she did finally say the hospital she didn't know which one. My dad passed away just two days after coming out of this facility and yet no one from the Citadel even bothered to follow up with us in any way. There is no caring for the real individual here. Again, I really liked the staff and we loved dad's speech therapist, who was the only one who would really even talk to us about dad. If you really want your loved one to be cared for, find someplace else. If you decide to place them here, plan on spending every minute there with them.

I agree. My Grandfather was there due to his stroke. We were very apprehensive on bringing him there because they didnt have alot of excercise equipment and the building could use a remodel. But while I began my search for a new building my Grandfather began showing alot of progress.I began loving the staff and I am greatfull to this day.The therapist worked closely with my grandfather and do you know I pop in once and while to bring their favorite cookies.

This facility has nowhere near enough quality staff. To rehabilitate and care for a post surgery patient who is fragile and immobilized in any way.

Response: sounds like you are an ex employee,I take that very personal. I used to work at Citadel Care Center before I became a stay home mom.Citadel is a wonderfull place to work.Like all places you cant please them all.I have cooked a leg of lamb all day and had 5 couples over for dinner, however 1 couple was vegetarian and one girl never ate lamb and wasnt going to try it.No matter how hard I worked they all were not pleased.Im sorry your expience wasnt a good one just like my friends I had for dinner but please know that our hearts were in it 100 percent.
