My grandfather was placed in this horrible 'home' by my grandmother and aunts and uncles. We went to visit my grandpa once a week and every time we went,it seemed to be worse, until finally the Health and Human Services came and removed all the patients under State care.My grandfather was placed on 5 pschotropic drugs and he was complaining of back pains, due to kidney problems. My grandfather always had issues with kidney stones and being on that many drugs were very bad for his kidneys. On one visit,I got a glass of water for another elderly man who kept trying to get the attention of the staff member[only one was present].They made a joke about him being a 'complainer'.The man just wanted some water! Everyone in the home was drugged up and it was always quiet...too quiet, with the exception of the living room where they had the TV blaring news out all day.The house smelled pretty foul most of the time.I know they didn't feed my grandfather very well. When we would take him out to eat,he devoured food as if he hadn't eaten in weeks and his weight loss was proof that he wasn't eating properly. He died there and my heart grieves that he died in such a hell hole.I cannot even fathom how anyone could take their family members there.

WARNING: This place is dangerous! Do NOT send your loved one nor yourself to Amber Assisted Living. They present a false display of friendliness and compassion and care to get you or your loved one in. but provide quite the opposite. Their whole website and what they claim to offer is FAKE and none of it ever actually happens! Not 1 scheduled activity or scheduled ANYTHING is EVER actually done... This place serves out dated food to it's clients daily dating as far back as July 2010, when it is presently Jan 2013! They do have healthy ballanced meals, if you'd call this balanced and healthy: Maruchuan noodles and fried in old oil ( as in reused saved oil from other times of frying - saved in jars and put on the lazy susan to use each time oil is needed in frying foods ) hamburgers EVERY SINGLE DAY and pasta salad frozen chicken nuggets cooked in a microwave chips, cakes, and cookies and whatever else they can find to throw at the clients onto a plate ( no matter how far it is out dated )! This "home" also neglects, harasses, ignores, abandons and otherwise mistreats it's clients regularly. Dirty toilet paper and tissues have been found amidst clean hand towels sitting there for several days. Dementia clients have been left unattended, have been found wandering outside and encouraged to come in by both other clients and visitors of other clients. A client w/ dementia was found on the floor, bruised and bleeding on multiple ocassions calling out by another client who then helped this client up causing harm and risk of other harm to theirself. Clients have been unmedicated from pure neglect and irresponsibility. some clients have been neglected to the extent of providing all their own care to the best of their ability leaving them w/o adequate care and in further health detriment as the clients come to this assisted care facility expecting and needing the care which they end up either giving to themselves still or not getting! Clients that have come to the home with the need for medication management and follow through that they recieve their meds as ordered and on time and med reminders, as they forget to take them on their own... they are left responsible as to getting their meds themselves, preparing and administering the meds to themselves and having to remind themselves to take them, of course, this doesn't actually happen as it should being that is why they came to this place. They or their loved ones pay high prices to receive what they think will be the care they need and deserve in a caring and home like setting, but instead are actually tormented, abused, abandoned and neglected. Several ocassions staff is just not there for random amounts of time and clients are left alone to fend for themselves and each other. The The fridge is full of spilled foods and mold. Floors and surfaces are rarely or never cleaned. Clients have been left in their own watse because the staff neglected to change their diapers... then the caregiver yelled at the client and continued yelling and demeaning them for having messed their diaper and not used the toilet. A client w/ dementia is daily demeaned for his behavior which is caused by his inability to understand and function due to his illness and age.... and the caregiver yells at him saying " you are like a bold baby boy " and throws her arms up in the air. " I don't know what to do w/ you " and so she closes herself in her room. Apparently, it is also a higher priority than to monitor and care for the clients, for this caregiver to sit and watch tv &/or color in a child's coloring book as she talks for long lengths of time on the phone in her philipino language. the caregiver has admitted herself that she barely comprehends english... and this greatly inf=terferes w/ the ability for clients to get their needs met... that is when she even bothers to attempt to meet the client's needs. For several days, because the caregiver "didn't like to clean commodes", a client was left to repeatedly live in the smell of her own waste because she is wheelchair bound/ mobility impaired and her dr. decrees it is safer for her to use her commode. When this client asked the caregiver to please empty it after 4 days and a full smelly commode within the clients room, the caregiver got in her face and threatened and yelled and verbally attacked her and demeaned her for not being able to use the toilet. telling the client she was disgusting. Telling the client that from now on either she had to use the regular toilet or learn to empty her own commode. Every day dirty diapers are found left on the floor of the bathroom as well as clothes on the floor of the bathroom and on the floors of the kitchen and halls. Plastic utensils and even plastic disposable straws are often rewashed by hand ( w/ hand soap - never any dish soap in the house )and clients are made to use these. The stove and oven has not worked in at least 2 and 1/2 months... all food is prepared either by microwave or via a single burner that plugs into a outlet. meals are never as displayed on their " health balanced meals calender. They never wear gloves except in the rare times they actually clean a commode or pick up dirty diapers... but never w/ food, meds, client handling, etc. The water for showering is NEVER anything but cold... not even room temperature.... there have been several complaints by many including several times by the RN's that give some clients showers here. the owner clearly knows, and clearly does nothing to resolve it. every single shower is cold. " The washer barely works and puts marks all over clothing. The dryer doesn't work at all. So they line dry only. despite the fact that a client has severe alergies and this is bad for this client. Also a client has alergies to detergents and is required to buy her own sensitivity detergents and yet still nearly every time staff " forgets " top use this clients needed detergent and the client is forced to put up w/ it being washed in a detergent that causes the client to itch. In the fridge it has been found that there is a suppository medication that was due to be given to a client w/ dementia 3 months ago and ALL of that med was present in it's original prescribed packaging unopened, unaltered... the client never received a single dose. A cliet who is feeding tube dependent is left to be responsible for their own feeding tube feedings, fluids, and overall care... this is a large part of why this client came to assisted living, because the client needed help w/ the care of her feeding tube needs. and yet, the client has to do it still on their own w/ absolutely NO help from staff. This has caused this client to be hospitalized w/ many improper care /neglect of care issues related to the feeding tube, including severe cellulitis. and the client also required to surgeries due to this neglect of her feeding tube related needs. I know this is all true, because I was a client. I ask you to not send your loved one here. I urge you that if your loved one IS currently in Amber Assisted Living, to remove them immediately. The federal and state health departments have been contacted... and not just by me... they are now aware of the reality and have begun their investigation. I have sent evidence by way of pictures of this absurdity! I looked this place up online and as is my right as an American I fully intend to use my freedom of speech to write complaints wherever I can about this excuse of a business to protect others from this monstrosity of a place!
