My father died and we had visited this place a few months back. The were friendly and seemed to care a lot. Just before my father died we brought my mom here to caring hearts. My mom has Alzheimer's and she sometimes fills scared. She's very possessive about her pull ups. Anyways her first week went well. Dee was kind but she had let go the caregiver which we didn't find out till we brought my mom. My mom seemed to be getting along pretty well. My father's service was scheduled two weeks later so my sister had to deal with that. I went to see my mom and I called ahead . Allen was a new hire and as soon as I walked in the door he had a attitude. I was crying and one of the residents Paul gave me a hug. This was before I even saw my mom. I walked into my mom's room and it was dark ,3 pm in afternoon. The ceiling fan was on and I thought that to be weird since it was cold. I bent down to give my mom a kiss and she reached up and had something on her hand. I didn't know it was poop. I encouraged her to get up and she sat up but then she was in pain so I checked her and she had diarrhea, old diarrhea. Explains the ceiling fan. Right away I got Allen and was kind and said my mom's poopy. Right away he started making excuses, we got her up and took her to shower and he sprayed her in the face, I said we don't treat people like that. I then gave my mom the shower and she assisted. He said oh she can't do that I said she knows how to wash under her arms. I also noticed she had a bed sore that she didn't have before. They didn't know she had a sore.if they were truly doing a good job and not neglecting, they would have known. I used to caregive for my mom so I know what she can and cannot do. I didn't talk in a bad tone , I spoke to him with respect. He however argued about what she could and couldn't do. It was dinner time and he only gave my mother ensure, apparently he put her meds in it. I said doesn't she get to eat, he said she won't. I said she can feed herself and again he argued. He brought one potato and veggies with some beef. It was cold but my mother ate it anyways. I left that day and balled all the way to my house in Goodyear. I called my sister and she told me to contact Dee,so I did. She was nice but she was more concerned about herself and she didn't not try to comfort me .she just said your mom is a lot of work and she would be fine if we took her somewhere else. Allen was rude from the beginning and mom mom was neglected. They changed her medication to what everyone in the house was on. They crushed it which they both said was fine and it wasn't. It gave my mom full dose instead of time release. One thing I've learned is that If they talk about money and say they aren't in it for the money, that's a red flag, if the residents are in bed all the time, that's a red flag. You need to be proactive in your parent's lives, otherwise these people will just sedate then and keep them in bed. Check their bottoms if your parent is in a home in bed. These people appear to care but they only care about their selves. We only had my mom here for one month and we found a much better home where they really do care. Oh and btw , if you have altc .your parents ss pays the rest minus 104.00 for shampoo, diapers etc. Dee took the whole amount and made us buy everything for our mom. She failed to tell us that we got to spend the 104.00 for those things.
