As I have recently experienced.....Medicare doesn't always know what they are talking about! Just because Medicare gives a nursing facility 5 stars doesn't mean it deserves a 5 star rating! Generally when Medicare comes in to do inspections, the nursing facility is given advanced warning they are coming. They do not just drop in unannounced like they should if they want to get a glimpse of what is really going on. Keep a close eye on your loved one's that are in assisted care and I even suggest putting a hidden camera in their room just so you can be sure there is no abuse taking place. That is what I will do if I ever have to put a loved one in a nursing/assisted facility again!!

Response: My parent had a difficult stay at Sonora. We made other arrangements when it was apparent that nothing would change. Do NOT leave a loved one alone for long in this facility.

    Night staff needs help

Response: Not only does the night staff need help; so does the weekend staff. Many of them are not qualified and all of them are over worked.
Sonora is a beautiful facility but it is far from perfect.
