About BMA Management, Ltd.
Founded in 1999, BMA Management, Ltd. manages senior living communities in Illinois that feature independent and retirement living, supportive and assisted living, and memory care. Based in Bradley, Illinois, BMA operates 36 senior living communities with more than 3,300 homes and apartments. The privately held BMA Management operates nearly 25 percent of the affordable assisted living communities in Illinois, making it the largest provider of assisted living in the state and one of the 20 largest providers of assisted living in America.
Based on its mission of touching the lives of older adults and their families and its values of love, compassion, and dignity, BMA Management is committed to helping seniors achieve and maintain as much independence as possible. In every decision made by the BMA team, residents and families come first.
Independent and Retirement Living
BMA Management offers senior living apartments for adults 55 and older who crave the independence of residential apartment living combined with convenience and support services and access to community areas. Each apartment features a full kitchen, with a variety of floor plans available.
Apartments are available on a rental basis for a highly competitive and affordable monthly fee. Maintenance and repairs, most utilities, the main meal each day, flat linen laundry services, housekeeping, and scheduled transportation are included in the fee, and additional services are available on an a la carte basis. There is no entrance or community fee.
In addition, several BMA communities feature ranch-style homes for adults 55 and older who would like to live in a house without the responsibilities of lawn mowing, leaf raking, snow shoveling, and more. At some BMA locations, homes are available for purchase; at others, homes are available on a rental basis for low-income seniors. It's an excellent way to enjoy worry-free, low-maintenance retirement living.
Best of all, should the need arise, residents of senior living apartments and houses are given priority access to BMA's assisted living and memory care apartments.
Supportive and Affordable Assisted Living
Most BMA Management communities are affordable assisted living communities that operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program. BMA has been involved with the state program since its inception and is a leader in the development and operation of affordable assisted living communities. These communities serve seniors of all financial means, especially those who can't afford market-rate assisted living.
At BMA Management's supportive and affordable assisted living communities, seniors reside in private apartments that feature a kitchenette, spacious bathroom, and emergency call system. Residents may choose from a variety of floor plans, and furnish and decorate their apartment however they wish. Certified nurse assistants are on duty 24/7 to provide assistance with medications and activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and getting to and from meals and activities.
Three meals a day, housekeeping, and laundry are among the services and amenities included in the monthly fee. Financial assistance is available to qualified seniors who can't afford the monthly fee. No leveling charges or entrance or community fees are due at the time of occupancy. Seniors of all income levels - including those on Medicaid or those who only receive Social Security benefits - can qualify for residency. For seniors who have long-term care insurance that covers assisted living, benefits are likely to apply.
In addition, BMA manages an affordable assisted living community for adults ages 22-64 with physical disabilities. Traditional assisted living communities are available as well.
BMA Management's memory care apartments are designed to meet the needs of seniors with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Each small neighborhood of apartments was created with design elements that provide visual cues to assist seniors with memory challenges. Before residents move in, highly trained staff create personal service plans to tailor care to individual needs. Residents benefit from enriching, activity-based programming; a variety of wellness services; and aroma, music, and pet therapies. Through its memory care communities, BMA is dedicated to enhancing the dignity and well-being of each resident in a comfortable, secure atmosphere.
Memory care doesn't have to break the bank, either. BMA Management's White Oaks at Heritage Woods of South Elgin is one of five Affordable Memory Care pilot projects approved by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services to operate under the state's Supportive Living program. That means White Oaks, with its 32 private apartments in four neighborhoods, is able to serve older adults of all incomes, including those on Medicaid.
Special Activities and Programs
BMA communities offer a variety of exercise programs to keep seniors moving, including Tai Chi, yoga, walking clubs, and even Wii bowling. In fact, 16 Wii bowling teams from BMA Management's affordable assisted living communities qualified for the 2013 state tournament in Illinois!
Not only that, but BMA communities never miss an opportunity to create special memories through events such as senior proms, luaus, barbecues, ice cream socials, happy hours, and fashion shows. Residents can also count on musical entertainment, health education programs, spelling bees, and even creating Harlem Shake videos to keep their days lively and their minds active.
