About Bonaventure Senior Living
Founded in 1999, Bonaventure was known as Mountain West Retirement up until 2008 when the name was rebranded. With 37 communities spread out within six states in the Western United States (Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington), this closely held company is dedicated to providing their residents with an exceptional senior lifestyle through a dedicated and compassionate team. Their philosophy, "you can never go wrong doing the right thing" is a simple idea by which they guide their actions. Created with the goal of being the premier senior living company in the western states, Bonaventure understands and responds to the ever- changing needs and desires of their residents. With an approval rating of 96 percent, based on their ability to offer people what they want, it looks like Bonaventure is succeeding in its goal.
Bonaventure boasts a total of 4,400 units which range from 1-2 bedroom suites and cottages for seniors at various stages in their lives. A 38th community is being built in Colorado Springs, CO, and is slated to open early 2014.
About Bonaventure's Residents
Carefree retirement living is what Bonaventure Senior Living strives for, and their communities cater to older adults who are independent and active, yet want supportive services to make life more carefree. The age range for most seniors making the move into their communities is approximately 65 years of age, with the average resident in their mid 80s.
Senior Living Options
Bonaventure is all about one thing: living life on your own terms. To make that possible they've created various options for all stages of a senior's life based on the level of care needed. Ranging from intense 24/7 memory care to a more relaxed retirement lifestyle with just a small amount of help, there's something for everyone. In addition to offering memory care, assisted living, and retirement living, Bonaventure Senior Living offers independent retirement cottages for those seniors who want to live independently but still would like some assistance with daily living chores. The cottages are connected by walking paths to the larger communities, and residents are allowed to participate in activities as well as join their neighbors for a meal if they choose.
Retirement living allows seniors to live independently in private suites while still maintaining the companionship of a community. This all-inclusive lifestyle at Bonaventure Senior Living enables residents to enjoy a simple, more relaxed lifestyle while daily chores such as housekeeping, cooking, food shopping, maintenance, and cleaning, are left to the staff. Retirement living communities like Bonaventure can also help avoid a premature move to an assisted living facility; although health care is not provided, it is readily available.
For those who require help with the daily activities of everyday living, assisted living communities are ideal. In addition, extra help with bathing, dressing and medication assistance are available.
Memory Care at Bonaventure Senior Living
Memory Care at Bonaventure provides specialized services for those seniors in need of aid with daily activities due to Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory impairments. Dignity, choice and independence are words Bonaventure lives by and allows residents in this level of care to embody. Providing a safe and physically secured environment, the staff at Bonaventure helps residents cope with their disease through various classes, programs, and activities. Ensuring familiarity for residents is important, and residents are thus encouraged to surround themselves with mementos and personal belongings to maintain a feeling of home.
Coping with the disease is difficult on the families as well, which is why family involvement is encouraged at Bonaventure Senior Living. Support groups and educational workshops are offered on a monthly basis, providing loved ones with the tools to understanding memory loss and the changing needs as the disease progresses. Regular involvement in service planning is also encouraged to help families further understand the changing needs of their loved ones.
Temporary Stay Program
Designed with the purpose of introducing adults to the amenities and services available while making long-term care decisions, Bonaventure offers three different ways the temporary stay program can work for you.
Recovery Care - A perfect option for those who are recovering from an illness or hospital stay and are in need of temporary, full-time caregivers.
Respite Care - This option provides both physical and emotional relief for caregivers. Caring for a loved one can be difficult and this short period of time will allow the family caregiver to reenergize and recharge, which is beneficial to their health and well-being. Taking a short "break" enables caregivers to cope with the stress when they return, and by reducing stress, they're able to maintain a more positive attitude, avoid burning out, and provide better care for their loved one.
Experience the lifestyle - For those interested in finding out what senior living at Bonaventure is all about, the temporary stay apartment is the perfect way to "test things out" on a short-term basis before making a more permanent commitment. This opportunity will expose you to all the amenities senior living has to offer and assist you in making a decision about your future.
Services and Amenities
Bonaventure cares about what home means to its residents and is committed to giving them a caring, lively, comfortable and affordable place to call home. Each community offers its residents expansive suites and custom cottages which are 100 percent accessible, with kitchens and bathrooms designed to accommodate adaptive aides and wheelchairs. Suites are equipped with emergency pull cords and all residents wear wrist bracelets with a call button feature in case of an emergency. Additional amenities include fine dining, housekeeping, transportation services, 24-hour staffing, secure entrances, dining rooms, and common areas including fireplaces, beauty parlors, barbershops, television, and activity and reading rooms.
Upon move in to a Bonaventure Senior Living community, residents may furnish their own suites with pieces they've brought from their previous home, and they are encouraged to try and set up their new environment in a way that will bring them comfort and a sense of security. Moving doesn't have to be stressful, and the management at Bonaventure hopes residents will make this move their last.
In addition, Bonaventure offers assistance with the following personal care services: medication management, assistance with bathing, dressing, incontinence care and specialized nighttime care needs. Whatever your needs, Bonaventure can customize a service plan that's just right for you.
Bonaventure Residents Enjoy Life on Their Own Terms
Making the move to retirement living offers seniors endless benefits to their health and well- being. Having worked hard throughout life, it's now time to forget about the tedious, mundane tasks that have taken up so much time and leave the chores to the staff at Bonaventure. Residents in the community can cross the following off their to-do lists: grocery shopping, transportation costs (car, insurance, maintenance, gas, etc.), fitness expenses, home maintenance, and entertainment. All of these are provided when you are a resident of a Bonaventure Senior Living community.
Dozens of activities take place weekly and residents are finding themselves immersed in new hobbies they never thought possible. With this newfound freedom, some Bonaventure residents even find themselves starting up small businesses.
Transportation buses are readily available to shuttle residents not only to doctor's appointments, but to fun outings as well. Being on the go has never been this easy.
Staying in shape is also a breeze with the variety of exercise options available at Bonaventure. Whether it's a game of Wii bowling with neighbors, yoga or tai chi class, belly dancing or Zumba class, residents are encouraged to participate.
Bonaventure Senior Living communities feature restaurant-style dining. Set up just like the restaurants most residents are accustomed to, and the elegant and spacious dining rooms feature daily menus and specials all made from scratch, using only the freshest ingredients. The in-house Executive Chefs prepare these healthy and delicious meals throughout the day. If it's breakfast you're craving for lunch, all you have to do is order. Hungry for a mid-day snack? Such goodies like fresh fruit and pastries are available throughout the day.
At Bonaventure, residents can expect to receive the highest quality of service, whatever their needs. Bonaventure knows that everyone is different; that's why each new resident receives an assessment conducted by one of the company's highly trained, licensed nurses to determine what level of care is required. After 30 days another evaluation is conducted, and every few months afterwards, to ensure proper care is being given. Additional costs can be adjusted as the level of care changes. Residents can expect to pay a basic monthly fee that covers all expenses, including amenities, meals, entertainment and all utilities (except phone). As with many retirement communities, Bonaventure does not require long-term leases or buy-in fees.
Giving Back To Their Communities
In addition to Bonaventure's dedication to their residents, they're also committed to giving back to the community. In November 2012, a program entitled, "Bonaventure and You" was established for the holiday season. In an effort to support local and national charities, Bonaventure teamed up with new residents by donating $1,000 to the organization of their choice. Over $150,000 was raised with an additional $70,000 donated from the company's home office in Salem, Oregon. Due to their enormous success, Bonaventure plans on bringing back the program in October and will run it until the end of the year.
In the beginning of 2013, Bonaventure communities hosted a "Heroes Of Hope" awards ceremony. Each community chose an additional six local charities to be honored during the evening and a $250 donation was awarded. Alongside these charities, those which received donations under the "Bonaventure and You" program were honored and presented with a check.
