About Capital Senior Living
Headquartered in Dallas, Capital Senior Living Corp. is a public company that operates nearly 100 senior living residential communities throughout the United States. Capital Senior Living trades shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CSU. Founded in 1986, the company continues to acquire new properties that cater to seniors who seek independent or assisted living situations and home care services, such as skilled nursing and memory care assistance, and either outright owns or leases the properties that many senior adults call home.
More than 13,600 seniors live in Capital Senior Living's 101 communities, which provide continuing care and a wealth of socialization opportunities and services in locations from small towns to major cities, with the majority of the communities found in the Midwest and Texas. Capital Senior Living aims to "offer a relaxed atmosphere of warmth and caring that promotes companionship among residents and staff."
All Needs Met in One Place
A number of Capital Senior Living's communities provide what the company calls a "continuum of care." This means that if residents' needs ever change, they don't have to leave their friends and familiar surroundings behind; seniors can stay in their home and tailor the services they require to their current needs. It's comforting to know that a senior living community offers different levels of services all in one place.
Caring and Compassionate Staff
Capital Senior Living employs professionals who put the health and well-being of the seniors in their care first, treating them with respect and preserving their dignity. The communities have 24-hour-a-day staffing, giving residents peace of mind in every situation. The aim is to enrich residents' lives and engage them physically, mentally and emotionally.
Senior Living Options
Whether fully independent or in need of specialized care, the senior residents who live in Capital Senior Living communities feel at ease knowing they have access to whatever activities and services they require, be it housekeeping, recreation and wellness programs or transportation to off-campus sites and medical appointments. Many of Capital's communities are dedicated to independent living for those who are not in need of any assistance, with a number of sites also accommodating those who require an assisted living situation, such as help with housekeeping, personal hygiene, or medication management.
Amenities and Services
The comfort of residents is paramount at each of Capital Senior Living's neighborhoods. While every community has its own list of amenities, some of the most common ones include formal dining rooms serving nutritious meals, maid service that supplements residents' own housekeeping, and flat linen service. Residence configurations include bright and cheery studios and one- or two-bedrooms, all featuring kitchens. Rental fees may include most utilities, including television service.
Residents of Capital Senior Living communities enjoy special events such as movie nights, entertainment, and education seminars. Seniors can also try their hand at arts and crafts or get competitive with a card game in the community game room. Many communities offer volunteer programs that encourage spirit of giving and caring for others. The faithful appreciate the worship services in the on-site chapel. Select communities include convenience stores and community kitchens.
Everything in One Place
Capital Senior Living communities are well-known for their wealth of amenities that provide almost anything residents could need in their day-to-day lives. Thoughtful additions like laundry rooms and on-site beauty and barber salons are also important for maintaining quality of life. It's also easy to get to off-site medical appointments and shopping destinations thanks to scheduled, courtesy group transportation.
Safety and Health Is Paramount
Residents gain comfort in knowing that Capital Senior Living's communities are staffed 24 hours a day -- they're there to take care of the minor and major issues that may crop up unexpectedly. Additionally, each apartment has a state-of-the-art emergency call system, so help is always a call away. Additionally, many communities promote resident health through the use of on-site fitness centers and wellness screenings.
Dining at Capital Senior Living
The spacious, well-appointed dining rooms within each Capital Senior Living community ensure residents have access to nutritious meals and, just as importantly, provide the opportunity to socialize outside of their homes. The meals, which have a varying selection of foods, are served restaurant-style. Café fare is also available at some locations. Residents who utilize assisted- living services enjoy three delicious meals each day, along with snacks that meet their nutritional needs.
Ideal for seniors with active lifestyles who do not need any specialized care or assistance, independent living residences of Capital Senior Living are the perfect place to enjoy the golden years with friends. The apartments are spacious and affordable, and residents have access to beautifully decorated lounge areas and a wide range of activities to keep them busy.
For those who can use a helping hand now and then, Capital Senior Living offers assisted living communities that help keep track of medications, assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing and grooming, and ensure residents' safety with "well-being" checks. In these communities, residents' personal laundry and housekeeping needs are taken care of, and all meals and snacks are tailored to dietary needs.
Alzheimer's and Memory Care
Nearly a dozen different Capital Senior Living communities feature memory care services for residents with Alzheimer's or other dementia-related challenges. Loved ones know their family member is in a safe, secure place and surrounded by specially trained staff who know how to best meet their particular needs while maintaining their quality of life. Personalized treatment and dedicated staff are the hallmarks of Capital Senior Living's memory care program.
Nursing and Rehabilitative Care
More complex health needs are met through Capital Senior Living's Health Care Centers, which boast 24-hour skilled nursing. Currently there are two Capital locations providing this service: Canton Regency in Canton, Ohio, and Town Center in Merrillville, Indiana.
Sometimes a senior requires temporary care after a hospital stay or if their regular caregivers are unavailable. Capital Senior Living helps meets these short-term needs with its respite care program, which provides services similar to the assisted living community -- medication reminders, assistance with personal hygiene and dressing, and three meals a day. Residents convalesce in a fully furnished apartment.
Mission Statement and Philosophy
Capital Senior Living believes residents "should be able to choose an affordable lifestyle that's best suited for them." To this end, the company has a range of communities across the nation that combine independent living with assisted living services, focus solely on rehabilitative care, or combine memory and respite care. It's obvious that there's a commitment to residents, all of whom are encouraged to enjoy their retirement years to the fullest through stimulating programs and activities that are custom-tailored for their particular community.
Independent and assisted living situations generally require a monthly rental fee that includes monthly fees, which covers the majority of services. More-intensive health services, such as memory care and skilled nursing, may be an additional fee.
Capital's "Funding Solutions" program assists seniors and addresses their financial concerns by helping them figure out if they're eligible for certain federal or insurance payments. For example, combat veterans may be entitled to pension benefits, while a bridge loan may interest those who are selling a previous home or waiting for life insurance payments to clear.
Capital Senior Living continues to purchase senior living communities, expanding its portfolio and adding more service options for residents. Many of the company's recent acquisitions are in its well-established territories of Texas, Indiana and Ohio.
