Chelsea Senior Living offers a special care program for older adults with advanced depression, anxiety or other behavioral health issues. Known as The Crossings, this innovative mental health care program is located on a private dedicated wing within the East Brunswick, N.J., community. Residents in the program are provided with the same amenities and services that are offered in Chelsea's assisted living program. However, they also receive specialized care from a skilled behavioral health clinic team.
The highly structured daily therapeutic program addresses all facets of the resident's needs in such areas as physical exercise, counseling and coping skills training. Evaluations are made to determine the best course of action for each resident, in order to meet that individual's unique physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. The Crossings was cited for its innovative approach as a "Program to Watch" in Assisted Living Executive's 2011 "Best of the Best" issue.
Respite Care/Trial Stay
Rounding out the care options is the Chelsea Respite Care Program, which is available to provide caregivers with a break from the everyday demand of providing care to a loved one. The program offers a perfect solution for caregivers who must travel on business or who wish to take a vacation, and it is also an excellent option in the event that a senior needs to recover after an injury or hospital stay.
For those who are thinking about the transition to senior living but are unsure of whether they want to make a long-term commitment, Chelsea Senior Living also offers a trial stay program. During the trial stay, residents have access to the same care, amenities, programs and social opportunities as the full-time residents. Based on the quality of the communities and the wide range of activities so readily available to them, many seniors decide to move in permanently once the trial period is over.
