About Frontier Management Senior Living
With CEO and President Gregory A. Roderick at the helm, Frontier Management Senior Living, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Portland, Ore., owns, leases and manages retirement and assisted living communities throughout the United States. The highest standards are upheld at these properties, which range from independent living retirement communities to those providing additional help for seniors through assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services.
Some of the assistance Frontier provides to senior-living communities includes marketing and advertising support, accounting services, interior design, and staff recruiting to help each property meet its goals and provide quality care and services for its seniors. According to Frontier's website, "Our mission is to enrich the lives of our residents, staff, and associates through our programs, communications, environments, and true commitment."
The company continues to expand its scope, with nearly two dozen existing properties in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Illinois, and South Carolina. Frontier has also announced that it will manage Creekside Pointe, an assisted living and memory care property with 47 units in Sweetwater, Tenn. The company has also broken ground for three new assisted-living communities in McKinney, Houston, and Fort Worth, Texas, which will feature individual units in a country club-like atmosphere.
No matter the level of mobility and care, Frontier has a living situation for everyone. The company understands that seniors have differing needs according to their health -- completely independent folks may find that a retirement community with social events and off-site activities fits the bill, while seniors with Alzheimer's or personal care needs may need a specialized community. Part of Frontier's personalized service is working with seniors to find a place that caters perfectly to their current -- and future -- needs.
The retired seniors at Frontier's communities know they're not being put out to pasture -- on the contrary, they're beginning a new, carefree phase of their lives. Food preparation and housekeeping become distant memories, thanks to the on-site dining and cleaning services. Also included in the affordable monthly rent are all utilities (except long-distance phone service), flat linen service, scheduled transportation, and the security of emergency call systems. Seniors live in studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, where available.
Seniors who require a helping hand in their everyday lives benefit from assisted-living situations. Frontier meets the needs of these residents by offering help with dressing, hygiene, and medications through reminders. The staff at the company's assisted-living communities treats residents with the respect and dignity that they deserve, and residents rest easy knowing medical personnel are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A number of Frontier assisted-living communities accept Medicaid.
For its memory-care programs, Frontier follows what it calls its "Personal Touch" philosophy: ensuring the staff meets the needs of its dementia and Alzheimer's residents through personalized care plans. Caregivers learn about their charges' life histories and familiar daily activities so they can keep memory-care residents comfortable in their surroundings and throughout their daily lives. Each staff member is fully trained to provide the promised care and to serve as a familiar face. Residents participate in activities appropriate for their situation, and the communities enhance care with special events such as visiting pets and intergenerational programs. An "activity kitchen" within the community allows for supervised meal preparation, while family- style dining ensures nutritious meals and snacks.
Sometimes a senior needs short-term care and that's where the nursing and rehabilitation programs at select Frontier communities come in. Skilled nursing staff can help temporary residents recover after a major operation or hospital stay and assist with personal care needs. Frontier's attentive staff members work closely with the resident physicians to ensure all goals are met through a customized care program. Those needing physical therapy benefit from the rehabilitation program, which helps residents achieve their optimal functional status through a combination of intensive occupational, respiratory, and speech therapy.
Amenities and Services
While each location provides different services to its residents, Frontier Management is proud of the superior hospitality and lifestyle its residents enjoy. Rent an apartment on a month-to-month basis with no need to lock into a long-term lease, and enjoy the rich array of amenities such as nail and hair salons and scheduled transportation to doctors' appointments and off-site events.
Top-notch cuisine is part of the three meals a day served at most locations, including a wide array of entrees and side dishes. Physical fitness is especially crucial to seniors, which is why communities have wellness centers and swimming pools where residents can take part in an exercise class to strengthen their body and mind or take a few laps in the pool. Activities and events scheduled throughout the year provide welcome diversions and increase the opportunity for socializing with fellow residents. Events may include guest speakers, musical entertainment, and intergenerational gatherings.
In 2012, Frontier Management was recognized as one of the top 40 senior-living providers in the United States, coming in 25th. The list is compiled by Provider magazine, which is published by the American Health Care Association National Center for Assisted Living. The previous year, the company announced it ranked 27th on a list of the top 80 senior-living providers created by Assisted Living Executive magazine.
