About Prestige Senior Living LLC
One woman's dedication to nursing and senior care led to the founding of Prestige Senior Living in 1985. A forerunner in Oregon's long-term care industry, Sarah Delamarter began providing nursing care to seniors in her own home in 1946. When she purchased a larger home to expand her services, her first senior care community was born. Years of growth and expansion and a dedication to providing innovative care have proven Prestige Care, Inc. and Prestige Senior Living to be industry benchmarks for quality senior care.
The privately held Prestige organization, based in Vancouver, Washington, has two main senior care functions - Prestige Care, Inc., which provides skilled-nursing and rehabilitation at its centers, and Prestige Senior Living, with 39 residential senior communities totaling 2,650 residents in independent, assisted living, and memory care options. Combined, Prestige has 72 locations in Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Nevada and Washington. In a ranking by the American Federation of Assisted Living of the 80 largest senior living providers, Prestige Senior Living was the 39th largest.
Founder Sarah Delamarter's grandsons, Dr. Rick Delamarter and president/CEO Harold Delamarter, continue the family's work and with partner Greg Vislocky, now own and operate Prestige Care and Prestige Senior Living. Carrying on the family values of individual care, respect, integrity, commitment, and trust, the company's core values reflect a "legacy of caring" and a "promise to personally touch lives every day."
No matter what type of lifestyle setting or level of care seniors are residing in, you can be assured that providing a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment is Prestige Senior Living's highest priority. Although particular amenities will differ by level of care and individual location, home-like apartments with one or two bedrooms and beautifully landscaped grounds are the standard. Some residences have private patios with outdoor space. Many of the independent living and assisted living community locations are pet-friendly, so residents can enjoy their furry companions.
In addition, 24-hour security and call systems, smoke alarms and fire sprinkler systems, combined with well-lit parking lots, offer residents peace of mind. Being free from chores like housekeeping makes life more care-free, so Prestige Senior Living provides weekly housekeeping, laundry services, and interior/exterior home maintenance if needed.
Some communities have 24-hour private clubhouses, fitness centers, and even movie theaters. Most locations have on-site beauty salons and barber shops, outdoor walking paths, and common-use areas like a library, game or craft rooms, and private dining rooms to arrange a meal to be enjoyed by friends and family members.
You won't forego fine dining and delicious food at Prestige Senior Living. Top-quality trained chefs offer healthy, intriguing varied menu items, along with home-cooked old time favorites in a restaurant-style setting. Bring your appetite!
Activities and On-Site Programs
Prestige Senior Living recognizes the importance of seniors staying active, energized and engaged in their environment through frequent social interaction. To provide seniors the means to achieve a healthy, easier approach to everyday living, the communities have creative, optional exercise programs that focus on strength training and development. Each program is tailored to the individual's proper level of exertion and activity.
Utilizing a coordinator with personal training expertise, a combination of low-impact aerobics and flexibility exercises, and a focus on strength, helps seniors maintain muscle and endurance levels. Each participant's plan is based on their physician's recommendations and individual fitness goals. Safety is a main focus and the coordinator oversees all exercise sessions.
Residents at Prestige Senior Living communities can initiate their own recreational activities, like games or a book club in the common areas. If seniors are interested in a special program, like a watercolor class or an educational lecture, the independent living locations all have an activity director on staff who can arrange on-site programs and activities that are attractive to residents. Let the director plan the fun and you just show up. It's a great way to socialize and meet new friends.
Residence Options and Levels of Care
A combination of personal choice and thorough assessments will determine which of Prestige Senior Living's residential options and levels of care is the appropriate fit for seniors. Prestige has independent and assisted living residences, memory care communities, and also offers skilled-nursing and rehabilitation accommodations with Prestige Care. With so many different solutions, Prestige Senior Living and Prestige Care truly offer the entire range of senior living choices now available in the industry.
Independent living residences at Prestige Senior Living are spacious and luxurious while still having the convenience and comfort today's seniors insist upon. Choose a one or two-bedroom unit with a fireplace, attached garages, baths with barrier-free showers and private patios. Many locations have a community clubhouse for group gatherings or just to enjoy a daily continental breakfast or fun happy hour with a friend.
Prestige Senior Living's assisted living residences offer studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments and easily accessible kitchenettes with all appliances; private baths are standard too. Some apartments have beautiful scenic views. Residents needn't worry about whatever assistance they might need with the 24-hour service that is able to deliver care based on individual requirements. If requested, residents will receive medication management or help with activities of daily living, such as grooming and dressing. Taking care of residents while still promoting independence as much as possible is in just the proper balance at Prestige.
The Expressions program is Prestige Senior Living's memory care center for Alzheimer's, other dementias, and memory impairments. The keystone of Expressions is providing care and support based on an individual resident's level of functioning and progression of their impairment. Staff prioritizes learning 100 unique things about each resident and their life history. The program utilizes innovative research and treatment options and relies on Alzheimer's experts like David Troxel, an internationally recognized author in the field. Both staff and family members are constantly given the latest training and education to help their seniors.
Residents in the Expressions program live in apartments with a 24-hour emergency call system, kitchenettes, private baths and wall-to-wall carpeting. Most communities offer a beauty salon and barber shop, private dining rooms, and secure courtyards to assure residents' safety.
Skilled-nursing and rehab care are available at Prestige Care locations. Ideal for transitioning from a hospital stay to home, skilled-nursing centers provide the medical services residents require for either a short-term stay or longer-term care. Specialty care includes post-stroke, cardiac, knee or hip care after surgery, and wound care. Physical or occupational therapies assist patients in their recovery.
Awards and Newsworthy Events
In December 2012, Prestige Senior Living's Expressions memory care program was awarded the "Innovator's Award" from the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), an association advocating for treatment approaches supporting full and "active-aging" in seniors' lives. The Innovator's Award highlights the use of creative programming and advancements in care that set the highest standards while promoting all facets of wellness in older adults. Awards are determined by winners targeting any or all seven facets of wellness -- "social, emotional, vocational, spiritual, intellectual, physical and environmental -- to support age 50+ adults in living well."
Prestige Senior Living made news in 2012 by beginning the operation of six new senior living communities and skilled-nursing/rehabilitation centers in Washington and Oregon. The facilities that Prestige acquired have been associated with the company for many years. The current owners of the six communities entered a partnership with Prestige Care, Inc., but Prestige assumed total operation and management and has introduced a complete continuum of care, adding to the services previously offered before joining.
