About Senior Resource Group
For a quarter century, the Senior Resource Group (SRG) has established itself as a leader in luxury senior living with 18 properties across four states (California, Arizona, Oregon, and Florida). The privately held SRG focuses on unique wellness programs and encourages an active lifestyle among its more than 2,300 residents.
Senior Resource Group strives to enhance the day-to-day well-being of its residents by focusing on and pursuing the wants and needs of its senior members to develop plans based on their feedback rather than working from an impersonal corporate mandate. One of the main philosophies of SRG includes creating communities that are "what home feels like when home is all about you and your desires. Each has its own character inspired by its cultural and physical surroundings, and with the amenities of a fine resort."
Founded in 1988 by Martin Fenton, Senior Resource Group's headquarters are located in Solana Beach, Calif. Michael S. Grust currently serves as president and CEO. There are seven residences in California (Solana Beach, Rancho San Diego, Santa Barbara, Daly City, Monterey, Northridge, and Sherman Oaks), seven in Arizona (two in Tucson, two in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Green Valley, and Chandler), three in Oregon (Portland and two in Wilsonville) and one in Florida (Naples).
Senior Resource Group offers three senior living lifestyle options, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care.
Independent Living Amenities
For residents who are ready to do away with the hassle of maintaining a home but still desire setting forth on their own terms while not requiring routine care, Senior Resource Group provides independent living. This is a place to meet new people, go on new adventures, and continue getting the most out of life with peers who want to do the same thing. For independent living residents, the daily options seem almost endless. Take advantage of exercise classes in tai chi or water aerobics. Or relax by attending a recital, movie, or lecture. Explore new worlds by learning Spanish, browsing the Internet, or trying ballroom dancing. The best part is these opportunities do not require getting into a shuttle or hassling family members for a ride -- they are taking place on the community's campus. SRG has listened to its residents who said they don't want to spend hours commuting to activities. They want them within walking distance and Senior Resource Group has delivered.
As part of its dedication to keeping seniors independent for as long as possible, SRG also offers an InTouch at Home program, which allows access to personalized in-home services, such as assistance with bathing and grooming, laundry, pet care, medication reminders, cooking a meal, and more. Before a senior makes the move to a living center, this InTouch at Home option is perfect for maintaining independence in his or her own home.
Some residents maintain their independence via Senior Resource Group's assisted living program. These seniors have access to the same features as independent living residents but require personal care when it comes to daily hygiene and medication delivery.
Assisted living residents also enjoy weekly housekeeping and laundry service, as well as all utilities (phone not included), 24-hour staffing, and transportation when planned in advance.
When a loved one is dealing with Alzheimer's or memory loss, Senior Resource Group's InTouch Dementia care program allows these residents to move forward with the assistance of a nurturing and caring staff during the delicate time.
This option provides 24-hour-a-day care service with safety and dignity at the core of these efforts. The experienced staff at SRG works closely with family members and health care professionals to create a community where residents are handled individually and respectfully. Rest assured, communication is key for everyone involved in the care of a dementia resident and Senior Resource Group keeps those who need to be in the know up to speed on any developments, possible changes in care or situations needing an immediate response.
As expected in a luxury senior living community, there is ample opportunity for residents to expand their wellness. Senior Resource Group does this through its signature wellness program - Fitness Matters. This program is engineered to get people up and moving instead of allowing them to become sedentary and lethargic. By focusing on six key areas, including the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, and vocational well-being of its residents, SRG's Fitness Matters program offers so many options that the only complaint may be there isn't enough time in the day to do it all.
Physical fitness is addressed with access to high-end equipment and a well-maintained pool. Within both settings are structured classes with specific focuses on stretching, dancing, tai chi and yoga, as well as water activities such as pool aerobics. If a resident wants to take his or her fitness even further, instructors are available for individual guidance and training. Nutrition and fitness counseling also are options for seniors embracing a healthy lifestyle.
Beyond physical fitness, Senior Resource Group offers ample opportunity to strengthen the mind and emotions as well within the Fitness Matters program. Take a class. Join a book club. Dedicate time to volunteering. Or, become a member of the interactive resident council to have even more of a say in how the SRG community can improve the lives of seniors.
Eat What You Want, When You Want
Senior Resource Group shatters the stereotype of seniors living off limited, bland food options and having to eat during rigid timeframes during the day. With restaurants open 12 hours every day, residents are free to come and go as they please for their made-to-order meals.
And, this isn't a dining hall - residents truly are eating in a fine-dining establishment complete with exemplary service, clean linen tablecloths, and exquisite china. Plus, these luxury items are not wasted on plain food. SRG's restaurant menus are packed with dozens of choices and daily specials, which are inspired from monthly Chef Chat gatherings. These sessions bring together the community's chef with residents to discuss their favorite meals, how to improve the food served and to sample new menu creations.
Best of all, because Senior Resource Group offers restaurant dining, residents can expect more visits from friends and family wanting to partake in this culinary experience. Even the grandchildren have their own kids' menu to satisfy the pickiest of eaters.
Going The Extra Mile - Accreditation
Any senior center worth visiting is licensed but the people behind Senior Resource Group want potential residents to feel truly comfortable in the care provided while leaving no question unanswered. This is why SRG became the first senior living provider in the United States to earn accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in 2004.
Senior Resource Group sought out accreditation to bolster its already impressive list of accolades and to have an independent organization place each of the SRG communities under intense scrutiny to confirm what the company already knew -- SRG provides some of the top senior care found in the country.
CARF is an independent non-profit group that utilizes a thorough peer-review process to accredit providers of care services such as retirement living, employment, rehabilitation, aging and family. Senior Resource Group received commendation at all of its assisted living communities for employing top-notch staff, developing a variety of activities, instilling quality service, maintaining the conditions of the physical buildings, and providing exemplary management.
Other senior living companies followed suit but Senior Resource Group continued to push ahead. While others may have earned accreditation now, SRG is the only provider of assisted living communities in the United States to receive a company-wide, three-year accreditation at all of its eligible locations.
In addition, Senior Resource Group has been presented with numerous local awards throughout its 25-year history with national praise coming from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in the form of Platinum Award presentations and a Best-Of-The-Best Award from the Assisted Living Federation of America for SRG's Genuine Hospitality program.
