I recently - May 2011 - had a knee replacement. Originally, I went to a 5 star facility located near Stanford Hospital. Due to an unrelated medical crisis, I was hospitalized and subsequently "lost my hold" on my room if I did not want to pay apprx $500 to hold. I understand this and that is not an issue with me. What did come out of this is that they no longer had room for me when I was released and I was sent to ManorCare Sunnyvale. I have been here since and, in retrospect, it was a blessing that I "lost" my room. Although this facilily lacks the beauty of the previous rehab facility and the gourmet meals had...both of which are not priorities for me....the physical therapy, the nursing care, the CNA's all the way to the janitorial services have been exceptional. There is a clear goal in rehab emotionally and physically. I don't have to remind anyone I need to be doing certain exercises requiring equipment set up like I did at the other facility. The staff is friendly, competent, and professional. I truly believe this is making a difference in my recovery and the future use of my knee.

The skilled nursing facility is woefully in need of a remodel. My Mom's room had no phone, a broken TV and a bathroom stuffed with junk.. While she was there (5 days) she had four items stolen. My Mom cried when she saw her room.
