Outside the Entertainment lead and a few admins, the facility is not worth sending your family for care. They have high management turnover (directors 5 in less than 2 years), and staff seems underpaid and under appreciated. We pulled out our parent after lack of care resulted in safety concerns. The fee increases are aggressive and continuous. The nursing staff was unable to complete typical care when we had them reviewed by outside consultants. Be aware, there are better alternatives, and prices will change dramatically with fee rental increases. I would be happy to provide more details and pictures, but feel strongly there are better alternatives.

I am actively searching for a AL for my father.I have toured multiple communities in the OC area and was extremely impressed with Emeritus! They are not as fancy as most other communities in the area but have an amazing atmosphere! Every single employee and resident I came across in the hour I was there, were happy and welcoming. They said their logo is Our Family Is Commited to Yours, and I felt that way.I look forward to learning more about them and they are definatly in my top 3 choices. If you are looking for a home like enviornment rather than a snooty looking place where you feel like you cant touch anything tour emeritus.

My grandmother did a 30 day respite stay at Emeritus at San Juan Capistrano recently. She as well as our family had a outstanding experience. The group of residents there are amazing and the staff is caring. Sometimes it took a little while to get help but that is due to everyone working hard and having a busy day. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL and the rooms they provide for short stays complete with furniture are adorable. Everyone I worked with in the process of moving in where very informative and helpful. The Marketing Team which I think has a total of 3 women were very comforting! Loved it!

Emeritus at San Juan Capistrano is a beautiful community! I am a current employee who also has a family member living at another Emeritus property so I not only have the perspective of an employee, but as a family member who is entrusting Emeritus with my loved one's care. Emeritus at San Juan Capistrano boasts a 90 apartment assisted living, a 25 apartment Memory/Alzheimer's care neighborhood, and a 45 bed skilled nursing facility. Our Skilled Nursing is currently rated 4-stars, which is listed incorrectly on this website. You can view our 4-star rating at the following link: http://www.medicare.gov/NHCompare/include/datasection/resultssummary/onehome_allresults.asp?dest=NAV|Home|Search|OneHomeAllResults|Home%20Page~ProximitySearch~HomeSelect&OneHomeNHC=555763%7CEMERITUS+AT+SAN+JUAN+CAPISTRANO&SortField=#TabTop. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone.

Response: Hi - I'm interested in learning more about your story. I've been researching the Emeritus at San Juan Capistrano and your insights would be much appreciated as I continue looking into facilities in the Orange County area. Would you recommend a different facility?

beware! though staff are mostly caring peoplei found them poorly trained. my mother lived at the facility for over a year. in that time her hearing aids were lost under their custodial care. there was an excessive loss of personal articles that no one could account for ie, bedding, a 4 ft outdoor statue, cosmetics and clothes. they would not reimburse a thing. i feel that my mother lost some quality of life since we could not afford to buy another pair of $5,000.00 hearing aids. the loss was never documented and we were not advised of the loss. they say they weren't on an inventory list even though they secured them every day and night. i found them 3 separate times on hallway shelves where caregivers had left them.i found lost cosmetics were found in a communal drawer mixed with other pt's belongings.
i would be very vigilant if i left a diminshed loved one at this facility.
i am a retired RN and found the standards appalling.

Response: What other facilities would you recommend in or around San Juan? I'm looking and am interested if you looked at any others and would have recommendations now that you've been through what you experienced at Emeritus.
