My Mother has resided last Barton SNF for over a year now in Long Term Care. My parents were in and out of several SNFs in Sonoma County before my mom moved up here. I can honestly say that the care here is far superior than in any others they visited previously. I am ever so thankful to the staff and the standards they adhere to in this place. The activity director goes the extra 5 miles to normalize life in a facility. She takes them down to the water's edge of Lake Tahoe, for a nice outing in the summer. She brings fresh fruit and ice cream and will feed it to the resident if that is required. The SNF has two vans with lifts to take residents out for recreation or to appointments. I have never seen a staff get along better and enjoy their work and the residents like they do here. Many of them genuinely feel like the residents are family. In Tahoe we have a small community feeling,so there are many involved families and we are all included in the celebrations that go on regularly. Live music is often heard through out the halls and there are monthly, themed BBQs through out the summer. There is a wonderful front patio named the Healing Garden where water flows through large granite bounders. The sound of water flowing is very soothing for those who struggle with anxiety. There is a second patio to the rear of the facility where afternoon sun and fresh air can be safely accessed for all. I feel extremely blessed to have my mom here in her last years as they care is so tender and appropriate. Standards are high here and communication flows freely to the families. I could not have found a better SNF for my mom, and the bonus is that she is just 10 minutes from my home. God Bless Barton Skilled Nursing.

Danger, Danger,Danger! My Mom was admitted for "a week or so of rehabilitation" after suffering a stomach virus. In less then 24 hours, they had removed the motion sensor alarm, given her a walker, and left her unattended. She fell, fractured her hip, under went surgery and is now confined to a wheelchair and a nursing home for the rest of her life! Do not leave a loved one here.
