Liberty Heights is primarily an independent living facility. They have accepted alzheimer's patients, primarily those whose spouse provides the majority of care. While the facility is locked from the outside, residents can and do wander halls and can exit the buildings alone unless with their own personal caregiver. There have been incidents when a resident has rang doorbells not knowing where she/he was or how to get back home. Also, the gated facility frequently has left its gates open. I would not consider L. H. a secure alzheimers facility and I would give second thoughts to L.H. as an independent living facility if occasional wandering senile clients would be disturbing to me.
L.H. does provide many activities and transportation for its residents. It has a security guard who regularly escorts mentally impaired clients around the grounds to give their caregivers respite.
