We are a community made up of 3 small residential Assisted Living homes that have between 5 and 6 residents in each individual house. 2 in SW Jefferson Co, and 1 in SW Denver. All homes are small ranch style homes that are very easy to get around in without getting lost which keeps everyone at a higher functioning level. We have full time Live-in staff that usually consists of a husband, wife, and possible children. We do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, assist with any personal needs and administer all medications. All of our homes are intergenerational which keeps ALL of the different types of residents at a higher functioning level. Our homes are setup as a large family and are run with lots of TLC. In order for my Care Providers to be able to spend lots of quality time with each resident we usually have only one hard care resident with lots of high functioning residents. This way everyone feels special. Depending on the house or the residents with allergies we do allow pets that the residents are able to take care of themselves. All homes have full fenced in yards with patios. We have companion-shared rooms along with some private rooms in each house. As these are regular houses in regular neighborhoods if you drove by you would not know that they were an assisted living home. Due to this we have mostly shared bathrooms. We try to keep the residents as active as possible and interacting with others so, other than naps or sleeping we try to keep everyone out in the common areas as much as possible. We serve family style meals that the residents have the ability to suggest or even help make. Most of the meals are low salt, low sugar. All homes are in quiet neighborhoods within 3 blocks or closer to bus and stores. All activities are geared individually towards each resident needs with house activities that try to incorporate all residents. We have had all kinds of residents including but not inclusive - Alzheimer?s, Dementia, Parkinson?s, Diabetics, Developmentally disabled, Mentally Ill, Cancer and more. All Care Providers are trained per individual residents as they are all different and require attention that is geared to their special needs. Our homes have done Hospice care over 50 times and we try to keep all residents in what they consider their home providing end of life care with love and compassion. In all homes all residents and Care Providers sleep during the night but are on call. If we have a resident who comes in with sleeping problems we work with them looking at the drinks or foods they are eating, sleeping habits throughout the day, drugs that they are on etc. to get them where they need to be. All homes work with All residents if they are having any type of problems. We are known to take the time to work out problems rather than just releasing them. Alternative Care Homes was started in 1988 by Beth Revis. She is still the original owner. She has a MBA, Assisted Living Administrator?s Certification from ALFA, Certificates in Gerontology from the Univ. of Denver on Social Services in Aging and one in Physical Activity and Aging. She has been the President of the Denver Metro Assisted Living Assoc, VP of Colorado Assisted Living Assoc., Personal Care Boarding Homes Advisory Committee through the Colorado Dept. of Health and Jefferson County Counsel on Aging. Currently she is working on the Alternative Care Facilities Quality Compliance Focus Group which deals directly with issues that Medicaid clients have with funding, services, getting qualified etc. I hope that we have sparked an interest in us as we would love to have you come out and tour our homes!
