09/10/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: I found that when you are at Rowan everyone is friendly and helpful and tells you they will do whatever you are asking. As soon as you leave that changes. It is hard to get e-mails answered, promised communication does not happen, and there is theft. My Aunt's clothes were "lost" and also, when my Aunt passed away, some items that had been boxed up for mailing were removed after the box was taped up. After one response to that the fact that items were missing, there has been no communication about the search for the missing items. So, in person, you are treated well. When you aren't there, you are not treated as well when trying to have communication with Rowan. I am not convinced that the best care was given to my Aunt but she was also 90 years old and that may be hard to judge. I just know she regularly fought pneumonia and urinary tract infections while at Rowan. May have been her age, I realize that. However, her bed was by a window and that doesn't make sense when she is constantly batting pneumonia. If you have family or relatives at Rowan, I hope you feel they are getting good care. I had to oversee my Aunt's health from afar as I didn't live in Denver. I did find a great organization to help me and that is where I received the best communication and care for my Aunt.
