I can only say 1 star is 1 to many but that is the lowest rating I can give. What a shame places like this exist!
Lets start with condition of the place which is poor. I had to ask 4 days in a row to get a TV fixed ! and even then that was not even done properly.
The care is poor you have to ask several times to get a responce which usually took between 15 minutes and a half hour in most cases. The elevator was broken or working poorly for 5 straight days.
Fortunately they had no fires as the people on the 2nd and 3 rd floors would have been toast! If medicare gives this place 4 stars then something is wrong with the rating system or someone was owed a favor.
There maybe worse places but I do not see how. Go somewhere else is the only advice I can give based on my experience with this place

They overmedicated my mom when she was there for rehab. She had seizures. They did not respond to her calling to go to the bathroom, she fell and broke her hip. They gave her too much insulin and she was in a coma. Her roommate found her. They diagnosed her with pneumonia and treated her there. Next day she was unresponsive it was the overmedication again, taken to hospital. They broke HIPPA laws Betty Boe broadcasted my mom's condition on a crowded elevator. Betty Boe also used coersion to get me to sign do not resusitate on her chart as it would be, "Too disruptive for other patients." If she had heart failure. Just the pits, and they do not go over Medicare and your insuracne benefits before admission. They take you in and say Medicare will cover everything. When you leave, they send you outrageous and unjustified bills.

Description of Westport Health Care Center in WESTPORT, CT

Number of Beds : 120

Senator John Glenn once said, “Too many people, when they get old, think they have to live by the calendar.” A rejection of ‘calendar living’ perfectly describes the kind of world the senior living industry creates for millions of Americans over 55. Senior living is a lifestyle of personal choice. Those in senior living communities are never beholden to the calendar. They are free to be as active or inactive as they wish. If they want to relax and watch TV, they are free to do that, too. If they are healthy and independent and wish only to take advantage of fine housing, home-cooked meals, and cleaning services, they are free to do so. If they need assistance with some aspects of daily living, that type of community is available, too. Senior living also includes housing for those who require daily medical care as well as care for seniors who want to stay in their own homes. A well-organized system of care, senior living welcomes you for what YOU want to do.
