Management is very poor. Service has gone down in the 4 months my dad has been there 4 out of 6. To 2 out of 6. I understand this facility was purchased about 2 months ago. The employees work long hours. I doubt the employees are qualified. Long term patients are treated much worse than rehab. And I would say it inappropriate for staff to be seeing employees.

This place is HORRIBLE! Patients are IGNORED! We were mislead when we chose to take our family member here for rehab. She was excited to leave the hospital for rehab to get stronger and go home. After the first night, we were not satisfied (a bit angry) and started looking for a new place. While waiting on evaluations and insurance we ended up here for a week. In this week family members watched as other patients were ignored by the nursing staff. One occasion a patient was asking for help...as a nurse was walking by she was told that person was asking for help....the nurse's reply " they say that all day long". On a different day, a different patient and a different nurse... Patient laying in the hallway on a bed asking for help. When a visitor pointed it out to a staff member walking by the reply was " I'm am off the clock". These two things are UNPROFESSIONAL in my opinion. It is not only your job in this manner, but common decency and good mannerism to at least take a quick look to make sure there's not an emergency or call someone who is "on the clock"! On our last day of breaking our family member out of this place, we were given the advice to not let our family member stay in bed all day. That was nice and very contradicting advice because they did not get her out of the bed 1 time the whole week we were there. This place just was plain depressing, scarey, unmotivational...not at all what was sold to us. I hope we can recover and make our grandmother better. She was ok when we left the hospital for "rehab" she is NOT ok after "rehab" at Emerald Shores!

Response: My mother lived at Emerald Shores for four years before she passed away this month. The resident that was yelling for help was her roommate and she does yell it all day. She has advanced Alzheimer's. The care my mom received was wonderful. The aids and most of the staff love the residents there. The only complaint I have was with the actual medical care - it left a lot to be desired. Luckily family members were actively involved, so we followed through with things. The facility is clean and the day to day care was very good. One week there doesn't tell the whole story.

Nurse staffing ignores the patient when called. The food is mediocre.

This place has impressed me more than any other I have seen. The staff is extremely helpful and more than willing to take time and show you around. The residents are honestly comfortable as they can be, considering it is still a nursing home. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and it is VERY clean.
