08/07/2015 An Interested Visitor Writes: The one star is for the therapist's and a handful of nurses. The administration, Carmen & social services team, Belkis/Blanca are just in it for the money. My father has ALS a disease which destroys your nervous system. The disease is fast progressing, physically you become a vegetable but sadly you maintain mental clarity. There is no cure. After a hospital visit he was admitted at Waterford for rehab with my understanding from Rose in admissions that he would be transferred to the nursing facility upstairs afterwards. A week before he's 90th day at the facility for therapy, that mind you he didn't receive everyday, I sat with Blanca to discuss my fathers plan for discharge. She explained that my father was able to walk more then 10 feet and ambulate in he's wheelchair. REALLY?!! I demanded to speak to the therapists. Who were they getting this info from? The therapists clearly stated that my father "cannot" do any of those things! Blanca still insisted he was ok to go to an ALF. After visiting a few ALF's guess what, no one would take him because HE CANNOT WALK! So back to square one, this was one day before he's discharge date! Since Blanca was on vacation, Belkis took over saying to look at nursing homes, that Farehaven said they would take him. Friday comes around and I have Belkis & Carmen the admin calling me at least 50 times saying that my father must leave the facility, to make up my mind on what to do with him. I talk to Belkis and she says that Farehaven will no longer be taking my father in. When I get to Waterford I'm angry and frustrated but keep my cool since I have anxiety issues of my own. I see my dad, like a child, sitting in the office. When I enter he's room he's bed is undone with all he's belongings put into boxes. Ok I have three daughters of my own, I work plus I'm my fathers only family. Waterford knows I cannot provide adequate care but since my back was literally against the wall I tell Belkis since you guys give me no other option I'm taking him back to he's apartment and we'll figure it out. Belkis hands me the discharge papers and said she'd have a home health agency send out an hha and therapist to help. Marlyn from the agency calls me that night to say they cannot provide care because he is a liability for them in he's condition, that he needs 24 hour care and even if they could it would only be for 2 hours twice a week. I take off work to care for my father as best I could and continue my search for a nursing home but guess what no one will take him since Medicare only provides 100 days of therapy and Waterford used up 90 days now to find a Medicaid long term bed anywhere without the Medicare is a nightmare, no one will take him. Waterford should have taken responsibility to find my father a suitable placement if not keep him there at the facility not have me running around not knowing what the regulations are and understanding the system. It has not even been a week and the night before last my father fell off of he's wheelchair. He felt quite dizzy the following morning so now he is in the hospital again. I know Waterford failed us big time. They got paid and didn't take responsibility for the outcome. It's sad what they put me through but its disgusting doing it to an elderly person like my father & in he's condition. The elderly need stability in there last moments. Those 5 stars given to them by ACHA on a banner outside there building should be taken down. Also today at the hospital where my father is I met another patient from Waterford who says her experience there was horrid as well.

05/25/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Although this facility is not perfect, the staff does their best to make the patients as comfortable as possible. Our family members visit at unpredictable hours to check on the staff and care of our family member. 9 out of 10 times things are well. It really depends on who the staff is on a particular day. I would recommend this facility to anyone who has a family member in need of nursing home care.

12/14/2011 An Interested Visitor Writes: they have them seated in a wheel chair for hours, one was yelling from the room no respond from employee and the place has a fowl smell, they get injected with maybe a thick needle to get medication or they just push it into their skin cause they yell out in pain.so sad the activity they get,sad view the wheel chair do not have support to level their legs up as they sit for hours 7am till 8 pm.

04/10/2011 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Overall, the place has good presentation. But some of the CNA's have low patience and I have seen certain things that concerns me. The nursing staff, you can hand pick which are good and which are there because it is a "job". The meds are administered, but no notes are written in the books when there is an incident with a patient. This is an ongoing problem and was admitted by one of the physicians. Also, I feel that the nursing staff is forbidden to develop a relationship with the families, just strickly business.

Response: you are so right, and the employee that dress in blue who are they cause all you see them is sit behind a table and do not respond to the ones in need.
