THEY CAUSED A FAMILY MEMBER TO DIE DUE TO THE FACT OF THE LACK OF CARE THEY DID NOT WATCH A FAMILY MEMBER WHO WONDERED INTO THE HALLWAY AND WAS FOUND LATER ON WITH HIS HEAD SPLIT OPEN AND FOUND HIM LAYING IN BED WHEN NO ONE KNEW WHERE HE WAS WITH THE BED SHEETS FULL OF BLOOD

Here is the best l can do in telling you how this ALF killed my brother. My brother was living in an ALF in Tamarac Fla for 3 months. We could no longer take care of him. I am disabled and my wife has a hard time taking care of me. After living with us for 8 months we had to put him in a ALF due to the fact that he had Dementia, Parkinson’s and would wonder around the house in the middle of the night. The owner of this ALF in Tamarac. Came to us in Oct 2010 and told us because of my brother’s Parkinson’s and Dementia which he had a severe case of. They could no longer take care of my brothers needs in a safe manner. It seems that my brother would walk out of his room and wonder late at night. And has fallen many times because of he was very unsteady. They gave us 30 days to find another place for my brother to go to that can handle his needs. I received a referral to an agency that finds placements for people in my brother’s condition. This referral place called me and recommended Bay Pointe Terrace. In Hollywood. They said they would have a representative contact me after they call them and tell them about my brother. I received a call from a Linda who told me she was on her way to Tamarac to evaluate my brother. She told me she was an RN. Later on Linda called me back and said that Bay Pointe would be able to handle Fred’s needs. I asked about him falling all the time. Linda said her facility would be able to control that. A week later Fred was brought in to Bay Point to be admitted. During the admission process. Charlotte who did the paperwork introduced us to Linda (Since l only spoke to her over the phone l never met her) and told us in front of Linda that she was the owner of the ALF besides the head nurse. We visited Fred three or four times after he was admitted. Sixteen days after being admitted Fred was rushed to hospital and was put on life support. And there he remained on life support until his death on February 15th 2012. The day Fred was admitted to the ALF he was able to walk in the front door on his own. We even sat and had lunch with him there. Each time during the visits we noticed many changes in Fred. At one of the times Fred had sever bruises all over his face and neck. We were told he fell in the hallway. Fred was kept in a drug induced condition and confined to a wheel chair which was there way of controlling his wondering. One of the times we visited Fred no one knew where he was after we asked if Fred was eating lunch. We found Fred in his room lying on a mattress which was not on a bed but on the floor. It seems they put the mattress on the floor as a way to restrain him from falling off the bed. They did this without tell us. Well anyways we found Fred and saw that the back of his head was bruised and bleeding. The pillow he was laying on was full of the blood from his head. This was 10.30 AM. We called the staff and they did not know he was still lying on the mattress. They cleaned Fred up dressed up put him in a wheel chair and cleaned his head wound which he received from falling on the hallway floor the night or two before. This was another time that he fell after the first time he fell. The last time we saw Fred on the 16th day he was in the ALF. Fred was sitting a wheel chair not even able to talk because of the heavy drugs they were giving him to control his wondering. Fred was coughing very severely. It got so bad that he could hardly breathe. I insisted someone come to look at him. I was told he was coughing all week long and they will tell the doctor the next time he comes in. Well anyways we left to go home. That evening we received a call that Fred was rushed to the hospital. It turned out Fred had a bad case of Pneumonia and his body was septic. Since that time l found out Fred’s lungs were damaged. Since that time he has not come off the vent. The big problem here is Fred was never evaluated by a medical doctor or a physicians’ assist before he was given the ok to be admitted to Bay Point. The owner Linda is only an RN and she was the one who determined that Fred’s needs could be handled by Bay Point. Fred should have never been evaluated by an RN for admission. If a Doctor evaluated Fred he would not have been approved for this ALF but a Nursing Home instead. Where my brother would be able to receive the kind of care he should have had in the first place. Linda and Bay Pointe took someone who was able to walk, talk and eat and sixteen days later this person was carried out on a stretcher. All because of very poor care and greed for the money we were paying her. Please investigate. All other people living there are in danger. I am now without a brother all because of greed. Please for god’s sake don’t let anyone else die because of these people
