BEWARE....Look at other options. I used to be a big fan of this ALF but not any more. Recently they have been going downhill on their service and care. I don't know if they are having financial issues or just cutting back on the cost of their staff to make more money. Maybe their VP of Operations, I believe Susan, can answer that question. She was never very helpful or put the patient first. The facilty is just not the same anymore and it turns my stomach to see how your loved one is treated. Location is the best part of this facility. I am happy to no longer be associated with them. I would definitely recommend looking for alternatives. I have never posted a negative comment about a healthcare establishment but maybe this will help them see they need to address their issues and make some serious changes. If all else it will help those looking to move a loved one to thier facility.

My mom has been there for a month and a half and loves the food. However, when I agreed to pay $350.00 a month more for an aid to come and dress her, the aid never came. Also, the nurses don't really report to you the condition of the patients if there is a problem. Who monitors the patients if they have dementia? Noone!

My mother resides at The Peninsula and find your findings far from reality. Although many of the Aides do have strong accents they are mostly all willing to go out of their way to help. They also cannot force someone who does not want to do something into doing anything. (As I have experienced with my mother who can be strong and dificult herself at times) I have found that the staff is very friendly and family like and they try to help even the family members with anything that they can. I would highly recommend this community to anyone since my mother and I couldnt be happier on the decision we made over 5 years ago and counting. I am just glad that I am worry free when it comes to the care and concern of my mother not to mention she is always to busy during the day with all the activities available to make a phone call. So based on my personal experience I would not make a decision to place my loved one someplace without asking the actual residents from the community how they feel about it since they are the ones living it, not us.

The day to day "aides" barely speak english. If the resident is at all difficult and does NOT have frequent visitors, they will allow him to lay about and get worse. If your family just wants someone else to do the cooking and cleaning, this is a find place. If he or she is NOT self sufficient and you truly care about them, look somewhere else.
