This place is horrible. My adopted mother was there after a hospital stay for an infection in her foot and a UTI. They never dressed the foot wound, so it stayed infected. They "forgot" to give her the appropriate medications, like her blood thinners, so she ended up back in the hospital with a worse infection. Then the hospital sent her back there (against the family's wishes). They then gave her too much Coumadin (blood thinner), and she had to be rushed to the hospital for excessive bleeding, which meant transfusions and an ICU stay.

Not only that, but the place is filthy and the "nurses" spend most of their time on their cell phones instead of taking care of the patients. The food is HORRIBLE! She is HIGHLY allergic to peppers, but her food constantly has peppers in it, despite the "nurses" being constantly told about her allergy.

Most of the residents either sit in bed or in wheelchairs around the nursing station all day. The "nurses" won't take them outside for any reason because they are "too busy" (cell phones again). She is supposed to be getting up and walking with a walker to strengthen her legs, but the "nurses" won't let her keep a walker at her bedside and won't take her out walking because they are "too busy" (cell phones / chatting with each other).

I wouldn't let a dying raccoon stay there!

At first glance, the facility seems to have all you would want for your loved one to recuperate after an extended stay at the hospital. The admissions staff was kind and courteous as we did a walk through of the facility. the daytime staff seemed happy and responsive. After admitting my mother, I must say the facility leaves a lot to be desired. We were told there was a doctor on site everyday yet no one ever came to check up on her even when we requested it numerous times. Fortunately, my family has been very involved, this is the only thing that helped keep some check on the lack of care. As a labeled fall risk, she was not allowed to get out of bed without help which left her bed bound for hours on end. Her recovery has been slow if any. During her stay, we were a witness to several falls, complete neglect. Not happy at all with the facility. Some of the staff has a genuine interest in their patients but are so stretch that I would see seven call lights on at the same time in just one hall. The company or organization responsible for this facility needs to reevaluate the culture of their company and hire caring, compassionate and knowledgeable staff .

Response: Is your mother still their? Has things improved. I am in the process of making a decision to place my husband their not only for his care but emotionally support from family and friends. This is not good news as it is always different to leave your loved ones in the care of others.

My father was admitted for what was intended to be a brief 1-2 week stay, for rehab, after a 4 day hospitalization for an infection. Although walking with a walker when he came in, he was only allowed to walk with rehab and not with staff because he was a fall risk. He was left sitting in an "activity room" for hours on end without any activities or even the tv on and not allowed to be in his room, again because he was a fall risk. One of the aides in this room refused to take him out so he and my mother could visit privately, so she had to do it, while being told by the aide that he was "BAD, BAD, BAD" My mother was told it would take the full 100 days for rehab because of his fall risk (not new-he has been falling for years). She insisted she take him home and got him out just short of three weeks. Not a moment to soon, as he had lost 11 pounds in 18 days and probably needed to go to the hospital again for dehydration if he hadn't left. He regained 6 pounds in 3 days, after getting home, and looked better than he had the entire time he was there. If he had actually needed to be in rehab. longer, we would have moved him to another facility. As for the previous employees comment about being 5 star, they dropped to a one start rating with the state in August of 2013. Yes, the facility is clean and there are a few good staff members but the overall staff attitude is terrible.

I can't believe what I have just read on these reviews. I have been working at lake Mary for the past year and this is honestly one of the best rehabs I have seen. The staff are friendly and caring. The facility is very clean. By the way lake Mary has earned a five star and bronze award so I really don't understand where these reviews are coming from maybe a guilty family member or an employee who lost their job due to poor work ethics. We staff with great pride and provide excellent service. Maybe you are confused with colonial lakes or manor care. Don't agree at all.. Come see it for yourself.. By the way. There is a waiting list to reside at this so called horrible place. Lol. Be truthful whoever you are!

This place will kill your loved one if given the time. They do not see them as humans but as this is just a business. There is one or two nurses in the whole place who will treat them right but other than that you can never ask the nurses questions because they never know the answer, they will leave ports in patients arms for weeks without use that can cause infections and they don't respond to the bed alarms soon enough and high risk fall patients end up on the floor for who knows how long. All this happened while my grandma was put there. They had us switch off of WellCare to Medicare so she could stay longer and made us cash out her life insurance and then kicked her out even though all the rehabilitation nurses deemed her unfit to be alone at any point in time. They found her on the floor not knowing how long she's been down. The following day she was incoherent and could not talk but just mumble and turns out they didn't hook up the oxygen machine properly and she was receiving NO oxygen and her levels went down into the 70s. The doctor never came in to see her. I highly recommend that no one put someone they love in this place. They just want your money or to secretly charge thing to Medicare just so they may take money without your notice then kick you out once they can't take anymore.

Response: How long was your family member in this place?

Response: I absolutely agree with this. They did the same to our loved one. And now we can't even get a simple fax of her medical records to our long term care holder to complete the process of long term payments paying in the new place. Which is The Atria at Lake Forest(we highly recommend this place for any loved one, they are wonderful)...Lake Mary has the most inept personnel that work from top to bottom. They argue in front of you about personal situations, about their jobs with no care to the patient or their family. They are horrible. The most disgusting experience ever. NEVER EVER put your loved one here.

Response: You are right. They fired me because I told the truth and the rest lied to cover up their mistakes.

Response: You are so right. They fired me because I told the truth about what happened and the rest lied to cover up their mistakes!!!
