Have been trying to get my mother out of this nursing home for months. The social worker has thwarted my efforts at every turn. She has told me she will call Adult Protective Services if I want to take her home. When I tried to take her to a Nursing Home, she has told me to come take her and when I drive there 2.5 hours away, my mother is waiting for me outside with her bible in her hands. I go inside to sign papers. The social worker tells me to gather her belongings as she has had a call from the nursing home. When I come out my mom's room, the social worker tells me there is no room at the nursing home where she is going so she needs to stay there until a bed is available. Also there is an insurance issue which needs to be sorted out. When I tell her my mother is outside ready to leave, she tells me she will call the police on me if I try to take her. I tell her I don't want to take her by force but my mother is not a prisoner which she is making her out to be and my mom wants to leave. She states my mother will not be signed out to my house and will not be able to leave until she goes to another nursing home. I was left with having to explain to my mom the situation and leaving her in tears. Obviously this nursing home will gladly accept your loved ones but it will be another story if you want to get them out.

My elderly mother was recently at this facility. It was a horrible experience. Staff is overworked, many with limited English. She was isolated in a room by the door without being able to see the window, with no indication of where she was, what day it was, etc. RN'S were not visible except behind the desk and were more interested in talking amongst themselves than tending to requests from family members. My overall impression of the facility was that they don't spend a penny more than necessary to meet licensure requirements and cover them legally. Don't use this facility for your loved one!

Response: My heart goes out to you. I had a similar experience at another facility here in Naples. The facility physician said my husband's lungs were fine. The next day he was taken via ambulance to NCH where 2 leters of fluid was drained from his left lung and almost the same amt from the right lung. Had I left him at Manor Care -Rattlesnake Hammock, he would have died there for sure.
