My mother in law lived at A Place Like Home for five years. She was happy there. She had been in a large facility before and felt lost. She was treated very well at A Place Like Home. There were outings for lobster dinners (her favorite) and other restaurants, numerous field trips, Moose club dancing and karaoke, and more. In this small home, she had more choices and attention than ever before. Visitation was easy and comfortable. But, most importantly, she got excellent care. My wife and I were pleased. We highly recommend A Place Like Home.

Little or no activities. Dirty kitchen and general living areas. Smells like cat urine. Staff is inattentive. No privacy screens in the shared rooms.

Assisted living is a good solution for seniors who require a little help but desire to preserve their self-reliance. Why choose assisted living? Studies reveal that living near peers and participating in social activities leads to a more fulfilling life. With assisted living, you'll find senior-friendly living options and a dedicated staff. Communities have additional services that include 24-hour supervision and security, emergency response systems, access to licensed nursing care, chef-prepared meals, and assistance with grooming, dressing, and bathing. Housekeeping, laundry, social programs, and local transportation are usually provided, too. The personal interests of memory care residents at A Place Like Home ALF are always honored and respected. Along with the care and detailed attention they receive from specialists in Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, they are encouraged by dedicated staff to pursue the things they love, and always with a spirit of compassion, trust, and teamwork. Memory care is different from the care provided in assisted living, requiring a dedicated staff that is skilled in techniques unique to memory care. Residents live in private or semi-private residences with twenty-four-hour support. Three healthy meals a day plus snacks are provided, as well as housekeeping and laundry services. Structured activities designed specifically for memory impairment support mental stimulation. Grounds typically have secured areas, such as walking paths and gardens, for residents to enjoy. Behavioral therapies, continence care, medication management, and assistance with bathing and grooming are provided as well. Some seniors, as they age and begin to need assistance, simply do not wish to leave the place they’ve called home for many years. Sometimes they bought their dream home upon retirement. Sometimes it is the house where they raised their children and watched their families grow up. For them, the walls and floors resonate with memories. A caring, in-home staff understands this and is dedicated to making seniors as comfortable and as satisfied as they can possibly be. Services are available twenty-four-hours a day, seven days a week. Home care includes various medical and non-medical support services. When you are ready for assistance, medical and non-medical professionals are ready to help with a wide range of services. An assisted living community provides help when necessary with the goal of supplying the services required to stay as autonomous as possible. Memory care gives a higher level of attention, intellectual stimulation, along with comfortable, secure accommodations. In-home care is an option for seniors when they need it. Care professionals will bring their expertise and experience to your home. This choice is perfect for those who would like to stay in their homes but who need some help with the daily activities of living. These services, available 24 hours a day, every day, are paid for by the individual or through public and private funding sources, such as Medicare and/or Medicaid. Call today and discover how A Place Like Home ALF is the perfect fit for seniors requiring assisted living, adult day care, in-home care, memory care, respite and senior living services.
