My mother stayed at this facility for 32 days after her Knee replacement. The care she received there was excellent. I was shocked when I read the previous negative reviews. I had NO problems there. Maybe I just got lucky? Rehab department was great and the nursing staff were all very nice, patient and caring with my mother. The first day some of her medications were wrong due to a transcription error made by the hospital but the staff at Sanford was great and called the doctor to get everything straightened out. They even called the orthopedic surgeon and got her appointment moved up so she could go home early and not have to spend another weekend away from home. She is scheduled to have her other knee replaced in October and states that she will definitley be back.

This place sucks.... as a former CNA i could no longer stand to work for this company... always under staffed at night. .. the state should come in at night to see what really gps on here. ... they'd probably shut the place down which i think would be a great start. .. administration is a joke and only help out when they think the state of Florida is coming to do inspection and the regional guy Dave is a total dick. .. sorry for the language but the truth can be hurtful. .. SAVE YOUR LOVED ONES FROM THIS PLACE PLEASE OF YOU LOVE THEM YOU'D LISTEN. ..

My grandparents were at this facility for one year. They both declined drastically both physically and cognitively during this time. My grandmother had several UTI infections due to staff not tending to her incontinent needs in a timely manner. There is no outside space for residents to enjoy or to get sunlight. When I asked if someone could take my grandfather out for 10 minutes (after he called me nearly in tears for feeling like he was in jail) the rude response I got was...."if we can find someone who has time ." I finally moved my grandparents into a Memory Care facility this week. I called and e-mailed several staff asking them to have medications and prescriptions ready to go, and to have my grandparent's personal belongings in order. Not only was nothing packed or organized, nothing was prepared for my grandparents to have their medications upon discharge. When I asked the nurse about the medications, her response was "Oh we don't do that here. The other place should have an emergency stash of medications if your grandparents need something." The staff at Sanford Healthcare and Rehab, particularly the Director and the Case Worker, were completely uncooperative with the new facility. The Case Worker lied and said "Their granddaughter said they didn't need their medications." Then the Case Worker refused to get on the phone with me when I called several times to address the lie. The new place had to personally contact the Nurse Practitioner personally after eight hours of getting no where with the Director and Case Worker, who also lied about the Nurse Practitioner calling the scripts in to the pharmacy, which never happened. The Nurse Practitioner stated she knew nothing about the situation, and she immediately called in the scripts so my grandparents could have their much-needed medications. BEWARE of this place, DO NOT leave your loved-ones in their care. They are content leaving residents in wheelchairs all day, very few activities are available, if you consider "BINGO" and the TV on as activities. They claim they take residents out on field trips. My grandparents never left the facility once unless iwth me. They are liars and they do not take proper care of the residents. The fact that they allowed an 88-year-old and 90-year-old leave their facility with no regard for their medication needs, should speak volumes about their quality of service.

Well, I removed my mother from this place. This is without a doubt the worst place that anyone can put someone they love. I am still waiting for them to call me and let me know that my mother removed her catheter! They put all the residents in wheelchairs and stick them in a day room and leave them there all day!! No matter what time of day you go, they are all sitting there head down. No stimulation, no conversation, nothing. My mother begged me not to leave her there!! The staff is unresponsive, and the administration is indifferent. I moved her to Longwood Health Care Center. It is like night and day. Residents are stimulated, engaged and the employees speak to them. My mother is going home tomorrow, but if I need her to go to rehab again, that is where it will be. Please before you commit to the Sanford place, go see it, and then go see another place, and compare. I am sure you will not want to leave your loved one here.

Response: Update!!! See my other review! THIS IS THE MOST AWFUL PLACE! DON'T SEND ANYONE THAT YOU LOVE HERE!!!

My Mom has been in the Rehab for just one week, after over a month in ICU. I had heard good things about this place from my friend, and just accepted what they said as gospel. (We didn't think she was going to make it out of the hospital). Well, they have already lost her teeth (She has been confused). And the worst part is that the place STINKS!!!!! The employees seem to be really nice to the patients and the families, but clean the place up!!!! She had been in another Rehab before, and it was MUCH cleaner, but the care was crummy. (Lake Mary Rehab).
This place has an open concept area where the nurses station is. That is the TV room, dining room, card room, everything. So if someone is poopy, you get to smell it everywhere!!!IT STINKS IN THERE!!!!!!

Hello, I hope this review helps you as you search for a place for your loved one..I KNOW the fear. My dad needed a place to rehab after being in the hospital with renal and heart failure. I googles til I was seeing double, and I went to places that the hospital gave me that would take my dads insurance. If you have the choice to go to rehab of Sanford..GO!! I love it..they are taking such good care of my dad, and let me tell you I was neurotic about cleanliness, did it smell, were there residients hanging in the halls, were the staff friendly. At rehab and health..its trully amazing, the staff are AWESOME. The facility is spotless, the food my dad is being served is actually tasty and looks good. It is sooo hard to choose a place for your loved one, knowing that it could be a wrong decision, but I am thankful that I happened to find this facility. It is such a caring enviroment, it puts my mind at ease that my dad is in a place that will treat him like family!!
