We had a very positive experience with The Sanctuary at Kennesaw. Andrea and her staff went beyond expectation on mom's transition into Assisted Living, difficult in that she continued to feel she could stay on her own. She became a resident 12/1/13 and passed away at the end of April 2014. Mom always had good things to say about the staff and food at The Sanctuary, was treated like family. Would highly recommend this facility. David J.

    My father moved into the Sanctuary in the spring (2013) and is still there (October 2013). It was the new manager Ben and his concern and time that made me willing to take a chance on the facility due to some negative ratings in their past. Ben Brackett has been everything and more to this facility. His care for his staff and the residents there has made a tremendous difference. He is willing to go the extra mile in everything he does. Ben Brackett has done a great job turning some negatives into positives during his time managing there. My father is always clean and well taken care of. The staff has been great including a great thanks to Andrea who goes the extra mile to get Dad out in the garden area and moving, Rose and Jane and Judy who always have a smile and laugh for family members and residents. I feel we have been very blessed to have great care at a reasonable price for my father who has dementia and needs supervision that I am unable to give while working full time.

    From the day that Assisted Living Concepts purchased this facility, the quality of it's services began to deteriorate. They went through 8 administrators in 5 years, multiple head nurses, multiple activities directors, multiple housekeepers, and a diminishing staff. Basic services were totally neglected, telephones went unanswered, and citations were issued. It is all about the profit margin here, not about care for the residents.

    My father lived in the Sanctuary at Northstar in Kennesaw for four months before he passed away October 2nd. The CNA's seemed to be caring but understaffed. They were helpful to me since I live in Indiana and liked to call and talk to my dad. They would take the phone to the back and put it to his ear so we could talk. That I appreciated very much. However, my dad died alone. No one contacted my mother in spite of knowing he was doing very poorly so she could sit with him when he died. I called that day and they told me he had been unrepsonsive all day so it seems the staff might notice what was coming. I have a big problem with the billing office. My mom paid for the entire month of October. Dad died at 2:30 am on October 2nd. My mother was there that morning and cleaned out everything in his room - belongings and furniture and gave the keys to the room to an attendant. On October 6th I went to The Santuary to look for a suncatcher of my dad's that we could not find. The room he was in was locked and still a mess exactly as it had been when he died. I asked them why because mom had taken everything and turned in the key on October 2nd. Northstar kept the money for the four days from October 2nd to October 6th and won't refund it to my mother even though she cleaned everything out of the room and turned in the key on October 2nd. It was their mistake of poor communication between their staff but a grieving widow has to go without $400 plus because of it. Shame on Northstar for taking advantage of my mother. I won't recommend them to anyone now because of that.

    My friend's 76 year old mother recently moved from her home to assisted living because she had fallen several times since the 1st of the year. She is like a mother to me and I was asked to be part of the decision-making process. We were invited to have lunch and tour and I will have to say I was impressed with the food, the staff and the homey atmosphere of the Sanctuary. When I visit I always feel welcome and it's great to know she has assistance when needed and well taken care of by people who seem to really care about those who live there and their families (and friends who visit). Based on our experience thus far, I would highly recommend The Sanctuary at Northstar.
