Since reading these reviews, I inquired about seeing the state report findings. The facility was found not liable for any of the accusation's, and I have been very pleased with the care my loved one receives.

Since my posting on 5-20-2014, Hollis House has been State Inspected, and my allegations into their lack of care, denying patient medication, forcing into wheelchair and diapers, and chicken thawing where a cat was drinking water, etc., etc., were supported, or at least some of them. I am waiting for the full report at this time, but do have a signed report from the State Department Of Community Health stating that one or more of my allegations were supported and may result in state deficiency (ies). Not to mention that during all of this, the owner's have acted childish and taken the "you can't touch me" approach. Before you select any placement for your family member, please do your homework.

In the early years of my family member's stay at Hollis House, I was pleased, and thankful to have found them, but over the past year or so, I've been sadly disappointed as well as terribly concerned and even afraid for the safety and wellfare of my relative. Illnessess have been exaggerated and fabricated. He has been forced to use a walker and then a wheel chair, both of which he does not need, and only uses when he is at the Hollis House. I've taken him, myself, to the E R, and the only diagnois was that he was "Over Medicated/Sedated". His medications were given to him by caregivers at the Hollis House. During a recent hospital stay, upon his release, Hollis House attempted to refuse to allow him to return, saying he had aspirated on his food, which had not happened, but was only suggested by his caregiver from the home. The hospital's doctor had to actually call the Holllis House and ask them what their problem was and why they did not want to take him back and advised them that they could not just "dump" someone in that way, and that all of his tests had come back negative and there was no reason that he was not able to return to a personal care home. They took him back, and I continued to search for somewhere for him to go, keeping them updated that I was looking, for fear of his wellbeing. As I believe these illnesses were fabricated because they wanted him to seem worse than he was so that I would have to move him, for what reason, I do not know.
Now that I've found a place for him, Hollis House refuses to release his financial information to me even though I am his legal guardian, and the information is necessary and mandatory in order to apply for Medicaid to assist with his continuing health care. When I've asked about this, the owner of Hollis House hung up the phone on me. I've replied to the text messages of the financial lady and advised why I need this as well as sent email and a certified letter, yet, they have not given me his doctor's information nor the banking information. I was his payee, and I made his payments to the Hollis House, but they went behind my back and requested to change and become his payee some years back, and now refuse to release the information that I need to get the Medicaid that he needs. When I first asked, I was told that his monies would be transferred to the nursing home which I transferred him to. This was told to me by the lady that manages his money. When I spoke to the owner who hung up on me, I was told that he owes them money. It seems funny he went from having credit to owing them over $300.00 when his bills were paid by Medicaid and Medicare........................Before the past two years, I would have recommended Hollis House to anyone. Now, I would be afraid to let them keep my dog.
And the cat, let's not forget the cat. I was visiting one afternoon, before suppertime, and they had chicken thawing in the kitchen sink in a baggie, and I saw the cat jump up on the sink and drink water from a dish in the very sink where the residents food was sitting in a baggie.
I thank Jesus that I found a place to take my loved one to.
