My father was at this facility. He has Alzheimer's/dementia. He was there almost 3 months. One nurse was on duty in the memory support unit on his last day there. It was her birthday and she had a birthday party during the afternoon. There was cake, cupcakes and cookie cakes. Besides the residents, her husband and 4 of her children were there. Her youngest is a toddler with autism. After the party, the toddler was sleeping. She said she had had the baby there all day. In a unit for people who are mentally incompetent. The exits all have key pads to prevent escape, since the residents don't know what they are doing. Late that evening, this nurse reported my dad assaulting someone. He's had this condition for years and had never been violent. Instead of intervening when he was arguing with another resident (over an imagined problem) she called the police and had him hauled to the emergency room like a criminal. The sole reason he was in the facility was that we believed they were trained to deal with his disease. I know of other assaults that took place there, but at night, when they thought no one knew. Those people are still there. My father can not return. When questioned, administration was completely unconcerned about the only nurse over 30+ mental patients was babysitting her toddler when supposed to be doing her job. We have repeatedly asked for names of witnesses and have not been given a single one. We have been given different versions of what happened. Three or four. This is completely unacceptable to everyone I know. This is what they have a separate hall for people with brain disease for. My father was treated like a criminal. He's a sick old man. He was shipped off to a psych hospital with no elderly patients. The CNAs were mostly good to him, as was 1 of the 3 nurses. I did feel they were understaffed. I would not recommend this facility. They seem to want to cover up wrong doing by staff, rather than correcting it. They don't care about the patient or family. Sadly, they are the only nursing home in this town.
