I have been so happy with this Sunrise. My mother has made friends with many of the ladies who were all very welcoming to her. Their director is also great - very involved and very energetic. I look forward to my visits with my mother, and I bring my kids and dog with us. This is a happy place.

Both of my parents moved into Sunrise of Bloomingdale. They love the care givers who are very attentive, and also really love the chef. The chef is very funny and visits during meals. I have not had any problems at all, and I would feel comfortable recomending this place to anyone with an aging parent.

This community is very nice. I have visited very many in the past few months, so I feel I have a very good grasp on what is out there. The is a great activity calendar - the residents went to Lynfred Winery the day I was there. It was very clean as well. The food smelled good, and I was able to sample some popcorn, coffee, and cookies - everything was yummy. Everyone was very polite as well.

The community is wonderful. My mother has lived here for 8 years - first in their assisted living neighborhood, but then as her dementia disease progressed, she transitioned into their memory care neighborhood. She is thriving and does very well in their small group programs - especially the gardening and music. It was such a hard choice for us to move her out of her home, but we have been very pleased the whole way.

Staff lack training in how to educating and reassuring family members who are conflicted about the decision to place a relative in a facility. Neither administrative nor direct care staff are trained to assist families in dealing with the greif associated with "losing" a loved one to dementia.

Description of Sunrise of Bloomingdale in Bloomingdale, IL

    Number of Beds : 82

Sunrise of Bloomingdale offers assisted living, memory care, hospice, rehab, respite and senior living care services and living options for seniors. Assisted living, designed for those who want to live with some level of independence but occassionally need a little assistance, is the fastest growing, long-term care option for seniors. Living in a senior community has many advantages. Research suggests that seniors who live near their peers and have a variety of social activities report a greater sense of well-being. With assisted living, you'll enjoy senior-friendly homes and a welcoming staff. Additional helpful services make life easier, such as twenty-four-hour supervision and security, emergency response systems, access to licensed nursing care, chef-prepared meals, and assistance with grooming, dressing, and bathing. These communities typically provide housekeeping, laundry, transportation, and a calendar of social events. Memory care supplies a higher level of attention, regular memory enhancement programs, and social opportunities, all in a secure, warm setting. Seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia need a staff that is trained in memory care. Residents live in private or semi-private studio homes with twenty-four-hour supervision. Three healthy meals a day plus snacks are provided, as well as housekeeping and laundry services. Structured activities designed specifically for memory impairment encourage mental stimulation. Grounds typically have secured areas, such as walking paths and gardens, for residents to enjoy. Behavioral therapies, continence care, medication management, and assistance with bathing and grooming are provided as well. Sunrise of Bloomingdale provides a low-maintenance lifestyle and the assistance seniors need to enjoy retirement. With comprehensive assisted living, memory care, hospice, rehab, respite and senior living services, and with a hospitable environment, seniors can feel relaxed and secure. An assisted living community provides help as you need it, with the goal of supplying the services required to stay as autonomous as possible. Memory care gives a more direct level of care, brain games designed for memory enhancement, as well as secure, comfortable living arrangements. For more information about Sunrise of Bloomingdale,
