BUYER BEWARE. Unethical billing practices. Do not give your credit card up front like I did. Overbilled for 5 days with zero explanation, Your card gets billed. Detailed invoice? Nada. All you get is a credit card receipt for an amount. Well, upon check in, the rates , days and my responsibility were gone over in detail. For 2 months I called and called and called and emailed and emailed and emailed. Assistant Director, Mr. Joseph Tsadok agreed with my findings and promised a $425 refund. It took 2 months to finally get only a $400 refund on a check that misspelled my name and had the wrong address(kudos to the USPS for finding me). Mr. Tsadok seemed rather confused by the whole issue and promised to get me the remaining $25. That was another 2 months ago. I am giving this business 1 stars based on the facility, rehab and food. The staff did their job. No complaints about them. Management , on the other hand, seems to feel that they are always correct. I know its only $25 at this point but it is the principle. We had a detailed discussion where Mr Tsadok agreed that I was owed $425. Not $400. Don"t turn your back on these people.

My mother is currently at this facility and I have to say it's terrible. I will be writing reviews and getting the word out as best I can. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. They can't keep track of medication they dispense: my mom was given meds by one nurse at 11:35 and at noon another nurse came in telling her it was time to take her meds. If my mom wasn't alert and oriented enough to know better she could have taken her narcotic pain meds twice in less than half an hour! They can't keep track of their patients: after telling 4 people she was leaving for a doctors appointment that they had listen in her chart, my mom received a nasty phone call from a nurse 15 minutes after she left the building. The nurse YELLED at her and told her she wasn't supposed to leave the building, that she didn't have a doctor's appointment and that no one was informed that she was leaving. These are only 2 of the many many stories we can tell you about this place and she's only been there for 3 days. She's leaving tomorrow and won't be going back.

The nursing staff have been abysmal. The social worker woke her up on Sunday morning to say, "welcome! Sorry I missed you on Friday." Why on Earth would you wake someone up to say that? Instead of sending a welcoming message what she was actually saying was, "this is the time that is most convenient for me to come see you and it's my job to stop by so I'm going to wake you up so I can check this off my to-do list."

The physical therapy at the facility has been hit or miss. The first day a PT gave her a list of exercises to do without talking to her at all about her surgery, what she was feeling, how she was doing, what other pathology or co-morbidities she may have... Nothing. Her second and third trips to therapy have been better with both these other therapists listening to her and taking note of her status and other confounding pathologies. But it is noteworthy that she has seen a different therapist on each visit.

Overall it's been a terrible experience and she's going home early. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone for any reason!

They hacked up my fathers toes while clipping his toenails. He's a diabetic. DO NOT let them clip your loved ones toenails!

Do not bring a terminal loved one to this facility. All these patients need is continuous pain med administration and nothing more. That is not what happens at the Abington. There were many compassionate nurses that we connected with but one in particular was extremely incompetent and argued with a family member about a specific pain dosage that we knew was clearly incorrect. UNACCEPTABLE!!

My grandfather was here during the last part of his life, and I cannot express how thankful I am that he was. The nurses and hospice took excellent care of him, and I am comforted to know that his last days were in such loving care.

VERY disorganized. VERY uncaring.
The Abbington caters to their staff and NOT the patient. CNA's on their cell phone, watching tv or too busy eating. Patients left waiting for long periods of time when they call for a nurse or assistance on both the 2nd & 3rd floors. Staff never available when you need them.
'Activities' are very poor.
Patients are left sitting in their wheel chair ALL day in wet pants.
Filthy facility. Dinning room smells like spoiled milk because the carpet is never cleaned as well as patients room carpets are never cleaned.
Workers as well as residents smoke right out side the front doors and door to patio.
Little or no parking in lot as employees park in front of the building and the lighting in the lot is very poor.
Staff sends letters to POAs for 15 minute meetings yet when you express your concerns, nothing is done.
People deserve better than this especially when you are paying out of pocket.
The Abbington is not interested in achieving to a better standard of care.
Will never recommend this facility to anyone.

Response: I agree

Abington was the WORST place I could have placed my mother after surgery, They made it such a point to weigh her everyday.. that almost killed her. The staff is slow to respond when help is needed and my poor mother ended up a blood infection and pneumonia which sent her back to Glenbrook Hospital, where it sadly ended up too late to help her. I would NOT SEND anyone I LOVED to ABBINGTON !!

My mother has been a patient twice for a hip replacement. Both times she was there...She had clothes stolen and even her food that was left on the table. I don't think this is a good way to run a business.

Horrible! Do not send your loved one there! My father ended up in the hospital 2 times in one week due to dehydration. Staff could not care less (althought Maria, Bernadette and Leo were good)
The other ones were snide and snippy to us. they looked like they hated their job and taking it out on the patients. I was crying and they kept saying oh, he's fine. Well he wasn't. Horrible Horrible Horrible!

Response: True my mother did not any water in her room for ten days and we requested it daily for a pitcher until I started bringing bottled water and stated it's neglect did we get water , her room was not cleaner or washroom for ten days it was filthy , they do not like people bringing it to their attention
