Facility is short staffed and is bringing in agency staff to help fill the void but they need more staff members. After having a family member there for less than 30 days he had developed pressure sores that went untreated after reported to staff. Bed alarm was not provided even after orders. Protocol not followed after patient fell and was injured.

The official "Our Parents" review was written last November, before the most recent State inspection. Things started going sour at this facility AFTER the February, 2012, inspection. That sudden & dramatic decline is reflected in the 2013 survey. Good advice for anyone wanting to place a loved one at any facility: Always ask to see their current State Survey results. Most facilities have them out in their front lobbies. If not, law requires they be made available upon request

This facility began losing employees at an alarming rate 3 months ago. There is only 1 RN at this facility, besides the DON. Nurses are required to work multiple shifts on a daily basis, with no end in sight. During this timeframe, and until today, the Northridge Village website claims there are no vacant positions available. There are no ads on job websites (HR officially states they do not wish to spend the money, although advertising positions on their own website is free of charge.) Many times, there is only 1 nurse in the entire building with more than 80 residents. This shortage of nurses is not due to sick calls or lack of good nurses looking for employment in the region. Many times, management leaves for the weekend with open slots remaining on the schedule unstaffed, leaving the scheduled nurses to deal with the situation.
As a result of this, the residents suffer.... quality of care is not optimum when given by nurses working 16 hours for multiple days in a row, sometimes being the only nurse in the building. These residents deserve more/better attention and care, not to mention they are paying for it.
If you have a family member/loved one residing at Northridge Village, or plan to do so: Please inquire about the staffing, especially how many residents 1 nurse is responsible for, and if he/she is working more than 1 shift that day.
This used to be a wonderful place for residents. It would be unwise to rely on past reputation of this facility, as it has changed dramatically in the past 6 months... and even more staff are leaving in the coming weeks. Many who have left have been committed to the residents for years, but can no longer risk their nursing licenses.
