The only security camera is on the front door of the Skilled Nursing Unit. There is no security cameras any where else in the facility.
The Assisted Living section is left open 24/7. They don't tell resident's they can have a key with which to lock their rooms if they want one.
Staffing is at full capacity only when a family Sunday Brunch is scheduled. Otherwise at nights, weekends, & especially on holidays, staffing is at a bare minimum if that. All staff is required to help with serving residents at meal time. This means no one is at the Nurses' Station during this time period so residents in their rooms who need assistance & push their call lights aren't helped because the buzzers cannot be heard over the conversation & piped in music played in the dining room. There are lots of activities but if you are hearing impaired it is virtually impossible to enjoy &/or participate because they don't offer an alternate way for a resident to "hear." Can't play BINGO if you can't hear the numbers being called out. Can't understand a speaker if the text isn't displayed on a screen or there is no one who can "sign." The décor is quite nice & the landscaping is usually pleasant. The food is adequate but they serve a lot of processed, prepackaged items that aren't always the best for those with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. I had to go out & purchase jello for my mother when she was ill because they didn't have any. IF A RESIDENT COMES BACK FROM A VISIT TO THE ER OR A HOSPITAL STAY MAKE SURE THEY ARE BEING GIVEN THEIR NORMAL MEDICATIONS because whatever the ER or hospital doctor prescribes will be the only medications the resident will get. CHECK THE BILL FROM PCA PHARMACY VERY CAREFULLY. Some of the staff are phenomenal, but some are just doing as little as possible. Just because they may smile & act nice does not mean they are giving the care they should. The beautician is wonderful & her prices are amazingly reasonable. The Prime Source foot doctor is amazing. You cannot just put your family member in this or any facility & think they will get the care they need. You must be pro-active. Visit at odd times to see what's really going on. The rooms in the Assisted Living section are very nice. Not any where as nice in the Skilled Care section.
