I have read reviews. I am a past employee of 5 years. Both as a aide and activity director. I loved my job and the residents and their families both present and past. The floor nurses do a great job. The aides do the best they can especially when under staffed. As for residents in lobby area...some are fall risk and are there for safety. I personally tried to give each of them in lobby attention as much as time was available. There were various types of activities for all residents whether it be group or 1 on 1. I had great volunteers to help me. There are issues and yes they need to be addressed. If need be..write date..staff name...shift and problem down and go to your loved ones care plan day and bring it up while the ADM.
..D.O.N..and assisted D.O.N are at meeting.. if your still not happy with outcome. The state umbusmen number is available.

I love this care facility, the care staff are kind, fun, entertaining and respectful of their jobs and the people whom they care for. They'll answer any question you have to the best of their ability or designate you to someone who can help you.

The staff have been very nice, the nursing staff is nice and attentive but they seem stretched, some are much better than others. What I don't like is they put people in the commons area and they all just sit around all day long. It's always the same people sitting in that common's area. I never see any adminstration staff in the evenings. If I we have questions we have to call or show up during the week.

Response: This person has no understanding of how nursing homes operate, virtually no nursing homes have administration staff on hand 24/7. My grandfather lives here and I visit frequently. He'll sit in the lobby with his friends that need assistance and the aides are always taking the ones that can on walks (whenever the residents want), and to the restrooms when they ask for it and before meals as well as other times throughout the day. I rarely see dirty floors other then when one of the residents get a little to excited about there afternoon or bedtime snacks. This facility is one of the best you can find in the area, the staff is always available to answer whatever questions you may have and if they are unable to the can point you in the direction of someone who can even though there's not ALWAYS administration in the office.

Not sure what this person has seen. My father has been there for 3 months. He gets excellent care. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Facility is very clean. I come at many different times of the day or night and there are always helpful people.

Response: Why would you not admit your mother yourself? She makes a major life change and you let a friend admit her. Shame on you. If you want to see administration make an appointment. Why would you expect them to work all the time? Does a doctor, principal, or hospital admin work 24 hrs a day? Do you work 24 hrs a day?

Cleanliness: ZERO!!! The laundry bins in the halls make the halls smell like outhouses. My mother was moved there after falling at her assisted living home. The adminstrator, came in when my a family member transported my Mom from the hospital, asked for the paperwork and left. NEVER INTRODUCED HIMSELF! I have yet to see this guy because I come after work, and no one is in the office on the weekends. Frankly no one is ever in the office after normal business hours. There is absolutely no communication between staff the different shifts and families. Even after complaining communication was horrible. The RN's are rude and unfriendly. There is high turn over in staff which is not a good sign. Several times when I have come in the evenings they are short handed meaning people wait for help. Many of the CNA's are super nice and do care. Many of these poor souls are moved into the commons area and they either sleep or sit all day long with seat alarms that staff ignores until the beeping drives them to near madness. Several times I have been in the commons area and there was not an aid in site for several minutes at time. It breaks my heart that people have no alternative but to have their family there. When it first opened it was wonderful place, the corporation obviously only cares about your money and not your loved one. I got my Mom out ASAP!

Response: I agree.....If you love your family do not and I repeat do not take them there....horrible administration. They do not care about the residents. They have a ring going on there......The DON used to work for the state so when family members call the state to complain they go investigate like they have to but then they sweep it under the carpet. The corporate hires their friends to run the place so if you try to complain to them they also sweep it under the carpet. The administration you are talking about is only there when he feels like it. He lives a couple of hours away so if there is snow on the ground he is to scared to make the drive. He used to work at a nursing home very close to his home, left there to come to Anamosa...have to ask yourself...WHY? He usually stays in the local hotel during the week and goes home on the weekend...I know of one nurse that is very happy about this arrangement. It is a joke of a facility....I just feel sorry for the residents that are there.....there is a reason the facility is a 1 star....and if you read any good reviews about this place there is no doubt in my mind that they were written by the administration......

Response: It is obvious you were one of the staff fired. I have worked there 5 years and the administrator has missed 1 day in 3 years. He was always there. He stayed in the hotel with his wife because she works in this area, they were planning on moving here. The administration, Admin and DON cleaned house and got rid of the poor staff, you must of been one of them.
