Response: You obviously work for Olive Branch. They always keep their clients drugged. If you really cared you would have noticed. Olive Branch has been sued for negligence on numerous occasions. If your parent died, its because you didn't care enough to question their practices. Yes you should live in guilt. Check this out:The family of an 84-year-old man who died while in the care of a nursing home has been awarded $1 million in damages stemming from a nursing home neglect and medical malpractice lawsuit.
Leon Nelms of Tallulah died in November 2004 because of complications arising from neglect at Olive Branch Senior Care Center, the jury found. The 12-person jury rendered its verdict on Nov. 2.

Shortly after entering Olive Branch Senior Care, Nelms had to be taken to a hospital because of infected pressure sores, weight loss, malnutrition and dehydration, the lawsuit alleged.

He died six days later from the infected pressure sores, one of which was so advanced it went to the bone and was infected with his own feces, according to the lawsuit.

The nursing facility is owned by Brown Development Inc. and D. Brown Enterprises Inc.

09/09/2010  -  An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes:

Thank goodness for Olive Branch! This option allowed my family member to spend the last few months of her life in dignity and comfort. She no longer was aware of her surroundings but we certainly were constantly vigilant. How I wish I had known about this facility sooner! She was in the private pay wing but when we walked through the building to get to this area there was no unpleasant odors nor were there any residents allowed to be uncomfortably slumped in wheel chairs in the hallways. Everyone here is treated with respect and care. It was more than worth the 20 minute drive one way to be greeted with a smile from the staff and to know there were no "surprises" awaiting me in my family member's room!

Description of Olive Branch Senior Care Center (The) in TALLULAH, LA

Built In 1998 , Number of Beds : 156

What is senior living? Both words in this phrase are essential, but the key is “Living!” Simply put, senior living is for those age 55 and older who still want to get everything they can out of life—with excellent value, excellent care, and excellent times. It means an engaged, satisfied lifestyle based upon your wants and needs. For some it means independent living, a way to live as usual but without the hassles of home ownership or maintenance. For others it means assisted living, a type of retirement community that still emphasizes your freedom and independence, but always with a ready, friendly staff to assist as needed. For those requiring more intensive help with physical needs or with Alzheimer’s or dementia, senior living means nursing care and memory care. Senior living offers comprehensive continuing care, where retirees can “age in place,” moving from one form of care to another as needed. Finally, senior living also means in-home care, where trained staff help retirees in their current home.
