I placed my father in an Independent Living apartment at Cedar Lake Village (CLV) two years ago after hearing positive feedback from a family member who once worked there. I have to say that the feedback was right on target.

The staff at CLV has always treated my father with so much kindness and compassion, and I can tell they genuinely care about him. On more than one occasion the staff has been able to check on my dad when I called, and whenever I've come needing information, ideas, assistance, or whatever, they go to great lengths to ensure they help me and my dad. From Abby who originally got us signed up, to Tracey the Senior Living Director who has always made herself available to help with facilities' questions, Andrea, Amy, Denise, Daphne, Kelsie, and others, we have felt at "home" at CLV and I've always felt like my dad was in a great place. He has totally enjoyed CLV, too.

They have many regular activities for the residents like bingo, movies, and news discussions that keep minds active and bodies moving. There's a nice pool and gym and the lunchrooms are always clean with good food on the menu. The residents are very friendly, they know who I am even before I've met them -- "you're John's son aren't you" -- and they all wanted to know how my dad was doing during a recent hospital stay.

If you are considering CLV for a loved one I can assure you it's been an awesome experience for my dad and my family. The building is kept clean and nicely decorated, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the residents are delightful. I honestly give CLV my highest recommendation.

We're coming up on one year since my folks moved to CLV, and it's great to see them so happy, cared for, safe, and actually improving in their health. I toured 10 facilities before taking my folks to personally check out 3 of them. We all picked the same one as our favorite - CLV. The application and move-in process was easy, and my folks quickly took to their new home.

They are more active now, and they even have more independence, because of the services provided. They brag about the food, and I have to agree - delicious every time I eat there. The other residents have become quick friends and show real concern if they don't see one of my parents around. The Zoom-In service is another blessing.

The facility is always clean, and their unit is well-serviced by maintenance. Every time I've had a request, it was handled quickly and pleasantly.

The staff is approachable and responsive, both in the offices and in the services.

We're happy and the folks are happy, and they are much better off. CLV is also good on the price - the higher priced facilities I toured were nice, too, but the extra cost was for a lot of things that wouldn't have benefited my folks.

CLV really is the "sweet spot" for my family.

Like a few other who posted recently, we have not experienced what was described in the negative review that popped up. Our experience is quite different, and consistently so.

Linda, (previous reviewer) I could not agree with you more! My parents have been living at Cedar Lake Village for several months and they and I both are extremely pleased with the facility! My parents have a wonderful apartment and a beautiful view of the lake. Staff (a shout out to Kelsie) has been friendly and helpful from the first day we visited CLV. We did look at other nice senior living facilities in the KC Metro area, but chose CLV over the others, and am happy we did. My parents think the food is incredible and I have to agree, as I've eaten there with them several times.... and my dad has commented a couple times that there are never water spots on the silverware-- Now that's attention to detail! I could go on and on about what a great place CLV is......I recommend you take the time to visit and you'll see what I mean! Kelly

My parents are currently living at Cedar Lake and it has been a blessing to us all. I have to write this, because I saw the negative review posted 10/15. Everything that was written is not true in my opinion. I am VERY picky, being a former registered nurse and accountant!! CLV is extremely clean and spotless. The staff is friendly to EVERYONE. The food is delicious and the residents have a variety. And I will say that the residents are all welcoming and friendly to new residents. My mother has dementia and has lived here almost one year. My dad is fine physically and mentally. They both are happy in their new home. There is a bank, hair salon, exercise rooms, 3 dining rooms, snack shop, living rooms, etc. on the premise. VERY convenient for all. They have shuttle services to Kohl's, Price Chopper, Wal-mart, doctors. EVERY area is clean! I like the location as well, away from the loudness of the city. There's a lake on the premise and beautiful landscape. Visit this place before you make a decision. Fortunately, the city has several nice retirement facilities to choose from, but you will not be wasting your time to schedule a visit here. Linda Niehus

My mother is a resident currently at Cedar Lake. They have to parts to the actually senior living part, my mother resides on the lodge . Overall I can really say my mother's housekeeper for her floor she really kept her room immaculate, I'm saddened to say my mother just told me she has lost her house keeper. I had met her housekeeper on many occasions of me visiting with my mom. The cheerful spirit of the young lady was vibrant you could tell the passion she had forms mother and other residents. Now as for as the big shots, sometimes you couldn't even catch them smiling or a friendly hello, and that's sad. Amenities scares to minimum. activities are ok could do more out of the building fun. After five o clock their is nothing to do for the residents to do. Decorating of this building is very out of date, dining room smells of urine often times. Service to eat down stairs they are very rude and nonchalant.. Which every time I may visit my mother our choice is up stairs. And if you get into the wrong section up stairs. You might just want to go out to eat. I've literally waited and waited just to get my starters out. Not to mention by time me and my mom received our plate dinning room empty. And it wasn't even the person that waited on us. It was my mother's housekeeper and another gentleman. I am currently looking at other facilities for my mother. Do your homework on this place before any deposit payment anything.
