Brian Woods Inn should close their doors asap. The owners Carmen and Richard would have work and ask you to sleep at night without pay. What kind of company would do that to his employees. They know that if the residents are not sleeping or if something happen to them you have to help them. They owners are bad and should go to jail

A New Standard of Excellence..... This is what there statement says on there web site...however it is not true its only partialy true...for they only say kind words when they are either trying to impress people or when they think that people might turn them in.... then as well they tend to use a couple of either young or inmature employee to convinve them that they are doing good or that they are fixing things and as well to help convince others as well..I never saw a place where they don't want good employees and they either want employees that will treat the residents ignorantly so they can use them to mmake themself look good and conplain as to take light of there ignorances and neglect that they do towards staff but worse yet the residents..... they as well convince either nieve or people to whom really need the work that they are helping and you really want to believe them and unfortionatly they are not the nice sweet person that they pretend to be and that's really sad.... I can't see why they don't want to keep good employees that they do not even pay that much but like the work and the residents , how can that be a good thing for them or the residents there meager pay is not worth the ignorance or insults the pass along that's for certain....

They can own an older jaguar and a harley davidson...but they can't help but try to scam people neglect residents and as well care less about anything saftey wise... aparently the rules and regulations do not apply to them that's all I can figure to stay in bussiness for so long, or mabet the state keeps them around just to remind other places and facilities how not to be sort of like the scary stories that people used to tell there kids back in the day to keep them in line ...except with this place they are true ... Carmen and richard willl put on a good front and really seem nice at times ....but its just to make the neighbors and anyone think good and not the truth again that's for certain..... seems like the want people to be provoked then they play nice and act like this or that because either like I had said they know people or people are just letting them get away with what ever to show how not to be ...... and its sad because the residents are the ones to whom get hurt in the long run.its not even safe to drive with them for whne you help transport residents there vehical does not have enough seat belts and Richard will just talk on the phone the whole time..... they think anyone who works for them they have the right or the reason to be ignorant right in front of the residents... let alone if there ethnic background isn't the same as there's they will say derogetory things either because they think they are better or a sign of there mental state and it doesn't matter if they work for them or a resident either, they could care less... then they hire new people and don't pay them day after day week after week and found out if you work for them full time more then a week yo are one of the longest employees they have had...yet when you talk to them they do nothing wrong period..... its also not safe even for there own pet that lives there for you can find pills anywhere in the house at any given time........ they also will take food that was left on a residents plate save it for there soup or another resident another day.... they try very hard to get there employees to treat the residents as ignorant as they do in hopes it would seem to make it look like they were the ones to whom neglected them and pass the buck of there own personal responsablity.... they tell the aides that work for them that ensure is the same as milk with pwdered milk and a raw egg and a doctor told Carmen that acourding to what she tells people... then they treat the aides like crap and get them to think it was the other aides that cuaswed or said this or had said that aparently to make it apear that then its just there personal opinion to spread there ignorance and predjudices against other people to which aparently is anyone and everyone around them from what they tell people about anyone they know and then put a big smile to them act like it was someolne else to whom had said this or had said that and again the state aparently allows this becuawse theeres no other explination from all the legitament complaints to which are mostly true and at first you just want to think its disgruntled employees and its not its because they are ignorant and need of proffesional help that only a trained psycologist can help with and diagnose there illness....for knowonw could be that thoutless careless without either being mentally ill or something to that degree

They try not to pay the aides and then want them to complain so they can get others then to ptty them make excuses for there ignorances and hire other people to whom are good people for the most part and make it apear to which they know as well as everyone else around them that either directly know or are related and then be nice all of the sudden to the new nieve staff and residents to which there rights were violated and were treated ignorantly does this hey prove this or hey prove that to make a point that does not need to be made..... then they get others in the comunity to think they are helping the redidents as well as the residents familys into thinking that and there excuse it apears is that they do this is what had happened to them and therefore they had a reason to jeperdise there welbeing to make people aware that they do not care and don't treat them with respect and dignity even to a slightest point then to top that off get whom ever knows there tricks as well to do this hey we didn't see this or hey we didn't see that type of deal ..... then they make like they forced others to whom probably respect and care more for them then they do that's for certain and convince others somehow there neglect ignorance is making others like them and care for there needs and they are really mentally ill there cannot be any explination other then that for the great ignorances that were done to staff which is one thing but when they do that to the residents themself that's past a point to where its hard to comprehend any place allowed to stay in bussiness let alone not in either a prison fines or commited to a mental hospital to treat what ever illness to which only a doctor can diagnose them..... however there actions them self can and should be judged seeing how it directly afects the residents to which people either not knowing intrust there loved one too....

Why would a place hire someone durring the interveiw the person said to Carmen and Richard nicely that the first time someone had to go outsdie of a job to Onbudsman for health wealfare of residents to report abusive behavoir as well as whitnessing 20 or 30 people not wearing gloves or washing there hands? Also had not said what the nzme of the company because it would be wrong and that letting the agency in charge of that take care of what the problems where and that they would... why then the first day when cleaning and. Changing a resident and when ask Carmen if she wanted to me to hand her a pair of gloves that she never wears them.... first I had thought disgruntle employees but much more then that.... so why would they waste my time moving down here to listen toi them be ignorant to staff as well as residents too?

    Response: Richard states in the one reveiw that people aparently didn't read thee contract and they had but what Richard and Carmen forget to put into the contract is that they will treat you like crap and as well be ignorant and derogatory towards you and residents without reason or cuase.... they will and one speculates want you to quite as so they can justify in there own minds as well as to others that the person didn't read the contract and the person didn't give two week notice so we do not need to pay them... they aparently think that it is within reason to try and get people to treat residents the way they do as well as other staff and in there own twisted mind one speculates they are making themeslf think they are helping residents as well as others to understand and care for there needs.... one is not a doctor so doesn't know but cannot help but specualte that there is some sort of mental illness to which Carmen and Richard need to put down staff residents to feel like somehow they are better then other people and that they have the right because someone had signed a contract and then they work hard to try and get people to quit in order to get out of paying them anything.... know where in the contract does it state you will be treated like crap and be hired under false pretenses because hey we lied to you and made it apear we are something we are not and waste good workers time and efforts for they only wanted someone to intimidate in front of other staff and residents too.... it goes to show how far people will go and how what one again would speculate is some sort of mental illness to feel the need to control others with self control to cover for there lack of self control or something in there life they are missing or a chemical inbalance...again just speculation since one is not a psychatrist or therapist and one hopes they or others convince them to get the help they need instead of taking it out on other staff and residents...... not only that they are misdirecting as well as to what the medical establishment said wS improper way not just for the staff but for the residents.... such as hand washing wearing gloves.... or a resident asking for an ensue and the owner says that the doctor had told her that milk one or two raw eggs and powdered milk is the same as ensure...... then once again from all the other complaints to which one can only think in light of things these ignorances were here before this or that person worked here or was a resident and that aparently the state of Maryland condones that for they are still in bussiness and aparently the laws and rules don't apply to them and or can be twisted to fit how anyone wants regardless of patient care or excuses as well as to try and pull there hired staff to there lower standards to justfiy there own ego..... one hopes the state will eventually be able to help residents rights wit hine reason first and formost and then the stafffs rights within reason as well.

    Unfortionatly what people had said was true and even worse... The gentlemen they call Bob asks several times a day for a ensure.....Carmen tells the Aides that his doctor told her that milk with a little powdered milk is the same thing and it is not.... they hire people only to get them to sign a contract that states you need to give a two week notice or forfit your pay..... then they verbally abuse you along with the residence and convince them that its helping them and convince others that they are helping the Aides .... there was a fire in the oven and Richard would not let the Aide open a window because he had said it cost too much to heat.... the best thing the Aide could do was to get the resident to leave the room... they say ignorant things about people of different nationalities such as the Japenese lady who lives here, when water was spilled on the floor, Richard made the comment that's what happens when someone grew up on a dirt floor.... they are nothing but con artist and aparently the state of Maryland rules and regulations are such that people can and will get away with anything and then intimidate and use the fear that the residents have for them and in there own sick mind they think they are helping them.... see they also think so highly of themself and ego that anyone else that isn't like there sick discusting ignorant ways needs to learn how to be like them....I am suprosed as well that the neighbors here don't realise how bad it looks for there comunity as well... well anyways what people had said was an understatement and even this was being nice too...

    I would like to tell everyone a story about a man that lives there, I'll call him Bob. Bob was a police detective in his day, but, when he was in his mid 50's he had a devastating stroke and was placed in a home where he was kept in the basement for 4 years, he was not given the physical rehab he needed, did not have the social interaction he deserved.
    This man used to write his own songs and was an avid, talented guitar player.
    When he came to Bryant Woods Inn, Miss Carmen took him in when no other facility would.
    He was under weight, antisocial, depressed. With love, compassion and skill, she now has his weight up to an acceptable level, he socializes with the staff and residents, and most of all has regained his physical strength back. He now can walk an care for many of his own needs. Sometimes he will enjoy a little guitar playing, he still hasn't gotten back to writing songs, but Miss Carmen encourages him to try frequently and hopes someday he will find his love of music composing again.
    This women has dedicated her life to caring for these difficult patients. Which she does with ease and dignity. She maintains a clean safe home, where the routine is kept the same for the residents even when the staff is at a high turnover rate; she knows this routine allows the dementia residents to feel safe, they can always be certain of what the day will bring, this routine is a comfort for them. I respect Miss Carmen's dedication, and commitment for her hard work and would recommend anyone to send their loved one to her personal care home.

    I worked in this facility in the month of November 2013. I would like to respond to all the reviews made before mine. If you would have taken the time to read your entire employment application,you would have noticed on the last page,you signed that you agreed that if you quit without giving a two week notice you forfeited your last 2 week paycheck.
    The women who runs this home is the kindest women I have ever met. She takes these elderly people in when no other facility will except them because they don't have enough money. She will except whatever they get from social security, Medicaid, or Veteran's pay.
    She maintains this facility in a way that the state could come in at any time and it will always be spotlessly clean. If a patient comes to this home and is overweight, underweight or on restrictive diet she gets them to optimal health. If they are depressed, antisocial, aggressive or have social disfuntions she has the empathy and kindness to turn them around and get them over it.
    In order to run this home with the little money she gets from these residents she must be extremely thrifty with every resource; whether it's food, or energy costs. She knows how to make a dollar stretch farther than anyone I have ever met. If she ran the government's budget the way she operates hers this country wouldn't be in the @#$%-poor economic shape it's in. As far as the dog (Licorice)eating off the plates,that is true; a lot of people aloe their dog to do that. The dishes are sterilized in the dishwasher after every meal.
    Miss Carmen and her son Richard do their utmost to keep the residents lives consistent, because patients with dementia feel safe.
    I am giving this facility an excellent rating. If my mother needed a place to stay I would trust Miss Carmen to care for her like it was her own loved one. OH, as far as her employing illegals that's not possible, she has strict policy's about that sort of thing just like any other employer. I don't think it was fair that the other people who wrote negative reviews should be allowed to try to ruin the reputation of this women's hard ,honest work unless they have their facts straight. If you walked out without any notice and did not read your WHOLE contract than let this be a lesson for you!

    I concur with ALL of the previous comments. I could add some other things that I saw.....but i'm sure you get the picture by now!! I REALLY don't understand how they're still in business. I worked there for one week and had seen enough. I wish i had googled them BEFORE i went to work there. It was a COMPLETE waste of my time......and NO they are not paying me for the hours worked......7am to 6pm for 4 days. But it's not worth fighting for......and i think they KNOW most people will feel this way. Think about it......if they get 20 people per year to work for 2-4 weeks.......and don't pay them......that's alot of free labor. Like the other person said.....good riddance to BAD RUBBISH!!!!!

    This employer is very dishonest. They do not pay their workers. Every week they employ new workers. All of the seem to be illegals. They wash their clothes with the patients clothes. They do not throw away any food. All food is stored and expired. The same bowl for the dog is the same bowls for patients. They check every penny for energy, so the dishes aren't washed properly. I wish there was a lower rating. One patient keeps running away. One patient is still in the hospital after a fall. The staff is there to clean so they cannot watch the patient. They run a sweat shop.


    Response: This review is completely true. They came across the right person. This is why I'm getting them shut down. Me and all the former employees. No one should subject their loved one to that hell hole.

    Response: I too am a former employee of this place. i must agree with both previous statements. i never received my final check after being dismissed for not doing a good enough job cleaning the patient bathroom... i was the maintenance person, was not hired for cleaning, and helping with paitients, but i did it anyways. i beleive that i was the longest employee he had kept in that spot...2 months. authough i became quite fond of a few of the patients and would hate to see them displaced, this buisness needs shut down for health/saftey reasons.
