02/19/2014 An Interested Visitor Writes: Encore looks great when you go inside and everyone is so friendly, once you sign the contract and they have your money everything changes. They are rude and not willing to help. We put our loved one here and I went to visit them, and my loved one told me they had NOT a meal in a week. The next week my loved one was sent to Howard County General, I went to the hospital for a visit, and I was asked where my loved one was living, I told them Encore,so the nurse told me they have never had a patient come in as filthy as my loved one. I made arrangements so my loved one would not return to Encore, but loved one passed away once I got them moved.

12/17/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Beautiful, clean facility!! From the greeting of the receptionist to the nurses,I feel my mother is at a good place. I have always been treated so kindly once I step in the door. I have seen some problems in the past with staff but that's at every work place. I still feel very comfortable having my mother there and trust she is taken care of!!!

10/28/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: A friend of our family has been here for over 7 months. I have to say that it is not the kind of facility I would recommend. While the facility is fairly clean, I would be concerned with the staff. I have overheard staff talking about other employees, as well as people who live there. I also witnessed an employee yelling obscenities at a co-worker! Worst part is it was in front of residents and a nurse, who did nothing. I mentioned this to our friends and they have also expressed concern. They even notified the members of administration who did absolutely nothing. I feel this facility should be concerned about the people they hire to care for your family and friends. Look for another place, this one is not up to par.

07/19/2012 An Current/Past Employee Writes: It is what a 5. Star facility should be. One nurse spent time just holding a patients hand that was anxious! They don't just treat physical but emotional care also! They care! Proud to be a part of this team!

06/19/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: My mom used to be in this place and the GNA slept in her room while she was in the hospital. What kind of screening do they do for the employees and still have a high turn over. My mom also kept hearing the employees complain about the pay and fearing for their jobs. The management only cares about money and the administrator is a real @#$%. He expects people to kiss his butt as if people are lined up to move in this hellhole. Also my mother had meds that was just left in her room, I thought the staff was supposed to watch them take the meds and make sure.

Response: Get your facts straight before you slander people and places!

Response: right

06/07/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: This place sucks and had a high turn over of employees. The worst place ever to work and they mistreat the patients

1

Response: why would you put family member/ past resident, when this is clearly an employee???? real mature

Response: Can honestly say turnover is because people were not doing their job which the management will not tolerate! That is a good thing!!!!!!

04/25/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Great staff! Beautiful facility!

04/16/2012 An Current/Past Employee Writes: I am honored to work at this facility. It is clean, state of the art. The staffing ratios for nurses and GNAs to patients is very much above most nursing homes. Like any other building there may be days that are challenging because of other staff call off but it is not because the building understaffs. The Managment cares and is not afraid to help out which makes for a great team. Our new doctors are really knowledgeable. We are very good with rehab patients and we send home a lot of people successfully rehabed. Come in and visit one of he best facilities around!

04/12/2012 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: Facility is beautiful! My father got excellent care while he was there.

5

04/10/2012 An Current/Past Resident Writes: My mother in law is currently at this facility and I am very pleased to see the care they provide for her. My mother in law has been there for a week and I have witnessed patients that have dementia that are difficult to handle and the WHOLE staff provides great care. They are patient, caring and do their best to make sure they are well taken care of. It saddens me to see all these reviews because I have been to many other nursing homes and Encore is remarkable compared to others. It is very hard to put a loved one in a nursing home and Encore has blessed my family and made it easy for us to handle.

4

02/23/2012 An Current/Past Employee Writes: The below accusations are completely unfounded and untrue. This sounds like a disgruntled employee who was fired for not doing their job properly. I use to work at Encore and have nothing but praise for the facility. Besides being a beautiful clean environment, the personnel and staff are warm and friendly. The entire staff cares deeply for their residents. I saw firsthand the loving care the residents received.

5

Response: Unfortunitly some patients require one on one care or a sitter when they are challenging dementia- high fall risks. There is only so much 3-4 nurses can do. People fall,we are not a restraint facility and if you were fair and caring yourself, you would see the nursing staff did the best they can do. Not all patients are alert and oriented. Many clients appreciated the loving care we nurses and GNA's, and physical therapy provided. Good luck finding the same elsewhere. I am a seasoned nurse and appreciate the skill levels my co-wokers display and if family members appreciated healthcare, and limited their dictation to medical care, your family member may have improved faster for a speedy recovery. Then return home! Think about that awhile. We do not delay care for pain management, if there is an approved medication, they receive it. We do not have an on-site pharmacy so it's not always availble to the patient until pharmacy delivers, out of our control. Think about that before you judge us.

12/29/2011 An Family Member of Current/Past Resident Writes: My mom was there for rehab after having pneumonia and was an extremely high fall risk, plus she has dementia. After only 5 hours at this facility, she wandered out of her bed breaking her hip and her wrist. The next two weeks were absolutely horrible while she suffered in the hospital. No one from this facility bothered to call and see how she was doing. It was as if she didn't exist anymore.

09/15/2010 An OurParents User Writes: my family member was at this facility and I would not recommend this facility - some caregivers were excellent but they were not sufficiently staffed for the care my family felt is satisfactory - the male caregivers were extremely poor - they left dirty diapers in the trash while patients were eating - we requested pain medications many times before they were given withiout any explanation for the wait - other families told my family that their family members were complaining that they were not receiving pain medications at night when one nurse was working
and I heard one of the nurses has a child abuse record and they reported it and nothing was done - overall my families experience was extremely negative = one family took their family out because they did not have enough staff

1

Response: my aunt was there and although her care was okay We feel it could have been better - we did have to request pain medicine several times before it was given - we were told that the nurse had to give it - sometimes my aunt had to wait an hour for pain medications - although most of the workers were caring and gave good care - sometimes there would only be two people giving care - we were told they were short staffed thaqt night - this happened too many times and we would take care of our family because we did not want her to wait - some staff were excellent though

Response: this is a beautiful place but not the best facility to be in
we are concerned about the level of care given
we are thinking of moving my family
