I was scheduled for a tour. This place was so dirty and stinky the residents were asking me for food. I not sure who is managing this place but it really needs to be shut down before someone dies.

I was then asked several times when was a going to bring my father to stay. I had to just come out and say "you must be crazy" please don't call me again, I am embarrassed for the residents family who left them there may god have mercy on your souls.

If anyone would like to question or need more information about what I seen please leave your number and I will contact you back every review written on here is true except for the one Birchwood wrote which is in itself rude so that tells you about this place. told the review to"get a life" but you are caring for elderly OMG!

I believe when the State make random visits to the Birchwood Group homes they will find these allegations to be consistant and true. Diane Keye has ran these facilities so awful for so long she will eventually let her guard down and return to the normal. She has sent her workers to Home Depot or somewhere to purchase spray for the infestation of those bedbugs. We all know about a quick fix. Please examine those bed mattresses and look for the nest. You will see brown spots. I'm sure by now the curtains at the windows have been washed. Please go in the basement, that place was loaded with bedbugs. In closing, why would we fabricate this. Every allegation can be proven by family members. Please know that her son bathe the ladies at the Accokeek Group home. Do you want a man bathing your mother? Shut the places down until the owner come clean with how she runs the facility. Call a reliable company in to tackle the infestation of bedbugs!!!

I have observed this center for several times and the workers are overworked. The residence don't have hardly any activities to do. The food is poor quality and consist of mostly can goods. In my Aunts room I saw bed bugs crawling on the walls and blood stained curtains where the bed bugs were killed. The residence that are able to communicate will tell you they have been bit, but they don't know by what. The owner often doesn't leave enough supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels for the residence to use during the day. Although the staff is nice, they have so much to do in a day and can sometimes be short staffed. The owner takes the money and uses it to purchase Mercedes and tends to her huge home in Ft. Washington while then facility has the same bed bug infested mattresses, couches, and chairs. When you call her about a problem she doesn't return your call. This place is not where you want your loved one..... Please look n somewhere else....................

The Birchwood Group Home 3 and the one in Accokeek is an absolute disgusting and bedbug infested place to put your love one. The owner Dianne Keye, is not only a liar but she's robbing the system and taking the money living large and insisting that the workers cut napkins in half, never having hand soap or toilet tissue in the bathroom. It seems as though the residents eat an abundance of can goods, white bread, stews and starchy beans. What are they giving the diabetics? The residents are given water only. What about fruit and fruit juice sometimes. Lastly, my family and I have taken pictures of the bed bugs so therefore I know first hand about the infestation. The owner will fix it temporally but the bugs are in the mattress and everything need to be thrown away and replaced. Lets just see what the State has to say about how our seniors are living their last days. Always remember, if you see something, say something especially if can help make it better. Be encouraged!!!

This is odd, there is no Birchwood 3. Only a Birchwood 1 and 2. I absolutely love this facility and so does my Mom. Everything that is said above is completely fabricated and sounds like someone that is extremely disgruntled. If Birchwood was so awful, why is it still open for business with thriving residents, an amazing staff and support system?! I'm pretty sure the State of Maryland and the County initiate POP UP visit and yearly inspection. If you (the person that wrote the post) was so uphappy....I'm sure you called the health department and they came out and check for all of the things you called out and yet Birchwood is still open for business. Get a life! Find another place to put your family member! Find something better to do with your time then to bash a company that has 30 years of service to PG County community in which it serves, a solid reputation for providing services to families in need of a place to place loved ones. It is safe and provides a clean environment, all adhering to what I expected. I did my research and would personally advise everyone to check it out... speak with the staff or Ms. Diann directly. What Birchwood offers me and my husband in addition to what I noted above.
*Taking my mom to her doctors appts.
*Picking up meds for me.
*Healthy meal - you are more then welcome to join them anytime to eat.
*Outings - by the way, I have been on with my mom.
*Holiday Parties, cookouts, and fish fry events.
*Games
*Clean rooms, private rooms- I've walk down in the 2nd level ALL the time to check out Moms room.
*Staff members that are easy to talk to when I have concerns or suggestion. Open door policy, which I love.
Kudos Birchwood!

I WOULDN'T LEAVE MY DIRTY LAUNDRY IN THIS PLACE.!!! THE MANAGEMENT DIANE KEYE IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIER SHE MAY TELL YOU THAT THEY GO ON ACTIVITIES AND OUTINGS BUT ALL THESE FOLKS DO IS SLEEP IN THIS PLACE...OH AND MIGHT I ADD THAT AS I VISITED THIS PLACE ONE OF THE RESIDENTS I OBSERVED SMOKING CIGARETTES. I WAS NOT ABOUT TO LEAVE MY MOTHER IN A HOME WITH DEMENTIA PATIENTS THAT'S ALLOWED TO SMOKE. I OBSERVED ONE OF THE OTHER RESIDENT PULL HER PANTS DOWN AND URINATE IN THE CHAIR IN THIS SITTING AREA, THEY SPIT ON THE FLOORS. IT'S JUST A OUTRAGE I WOULD IMAGINE THAT THE STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT FREQUENTLY VISIT THIS PLACE......PLEASE PRIOR BE VERY CAREFUL OF WHERE YOU LEAVE YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. IT'S BEDBUG INFESTED......

Response: You are certainly correct about everything!!! Dianne is a definitely a pathological liar. She told me that they take them on trips and have a chef preparing the meals, come to find out that the chef is her son who bathe the women!! how gross is that. Oh and during my tour the only gourmet meal I witness was a bowl of beans and a slice of bread. I wouldn't have a dog stay there in that place. I was told that she hides residents in the basement but when you go take a tour they wont let you go down there. I counted the rooms with the people in the house which didnt equal up right. How in the hell could you have one shower with 11 residents which is a total of what i counted But license for 8. Be careful of these places you put your love ones in and search around and take a thorough tour as i did.

With skilled, warm assisted living, independent living and memory care services, Birchwood Group Home III is located in a comfortable area of Oxon Hill, MD. Assisted living offers a healthy, secure, and supportive environment for seniors who need help with day-to-day tasks but who still want to retain their self-sufficiency. Why choose an assisted living community? Studies reveal that living near peers and participating in social activities leads to a happier life. Assisted living offers senior-friendly residences and a warm staff. Communities have additional services that include 24-hour supervision and security, emergency response systems, access to licensed nursing care, chef-prepared meals, and assistance with grooming, dressing, and bathing. Laundry, housekeeping, social programs, and local transportation are typically provided as well. When you are self-sufficient but want to be in the company of your peers, choose indepedent living and enjoy amenities and services geared towards seniors. Intended for both individuals and couples, these senior communities are also known as senior apartments, retirement villages, and communities for 55 and older. Residents stay in private apartments or individual homes with an abundance of community amenities, services, and programs tailored specifically for seniors. You'll have your own private space, so you can bring your favorite furniture, photos, and cookware. You’ll be able to spend time pursuing activities that you enjoy since tasks commonly associated with homeownership will be taken care of. Because independent living communities are intended for older adults who need little or no assistance, most do not offer medical care or supervision. Community services and amenities usually include fitness clubs, dining facilities, swimming pools, golf courses, hiking trails, social events, and more. A unique—and growing—care type that requires an especially deep respect and honor for residents is memory care. Memory care is different from the care provided in assisted living, requiring a team that is professionally trained in memory care. Residents live in private or semi-private residences with twenty-four-hour support. Three healthy meals a day plus snacks are provided, as well as housekeeping and laundry services. Structured activities designed specifically for memory impairment encourage cognitive stimulation. Facilities typically have secured areas, such as walking paths and gardens, for residents to enjoy. Other support services include continence care, medication management, behavioral therapies, and assistance with bathing and grooming. Birchwood Group Home III helps seniors find the worry-free lifestyle they want. There are assisted living, independent living and memory care services available in this community. Within assisted living communities, you'll find help as you need it, with the goal of supplying the aid required to stay as self-sufficient as possible.
