My mother lived here for the last year of her life and while she generally enjoyed the environment, she was repeatedly ignored by staff when asking for assistance, absolutely ROBBED by all the fees this place charges for EVERYTHING and when she fell in the dining room she was laying there for HALF AN HOUR before security arrived to offer any kind of help! not to mention the fact that they hold your deposit ransom until they can sell the apartment again, and believe me there is no rush on their part! buyer beware!

While my mother lived in Brooksby Village she was very happy with staff and services that were provided to her. It has now been 2 YEARS!!! since she left and they still have not sold the unit. We have had much difficulty with executive director in just getting him to return our calls. We were forced to contact regional manager who has also been unable to help this situation. We keep on hearing how hard it is to sell in this housing market, but when we suggested that they lower the entrance fee to my mother's unit to make it more attractive, they refused. God only knows how long this will take before they resolve this situation. The only good thing out of this very ugly situation is that my mother passed away and was not burdened with the knowledge that her hard earned money has yet to be returned.
BUYER BEWARE, THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU PLACE A LOVED ONE HERE!!!!

When my mother was living here her food was repeatedly delivered late or not at all, and when she would get lost the staff would ignore her to avoid doing any extra work. On one occasion one of their student workers told her she gave him a $20 bill and when in fact she had given a $100. I am honestly convinced that those negligent workers gave her food with nuts because they didn't feel like doing the extra work to check with the kitchen, leading to her death. I'm warning you, keep your parents away. The kids here simply don't care!

Its a great place. Do not know were the gourmet didning came from. That was never promised. My understanding is the resdient satisfaction is the highest it has been since it opened over 95 percent. It would be nice to hear from the 2000 happy satisafied not just from the a few with a grudge.

Brooksby Village is a wonderful retirement community. My mother has lived there for many years and is very satisfied. She has been to RG for rehab and experience was great. Everyone was kind and helped her step by step during recovery. I would highly recommend Brooksby Village.

A company that simply over promises and under serves. I moved out because the management staff does not follow through on what they promise. The executive director says all the right things but is lack of follow up and return calls is embarassing. The community now has an occupancy issue. They continued to raise entrance deposits when home values were plummeting so now their pricing structure is way out of wack and I have been waiting months for my deposit refund because my apartment home is overvalued and will not sell for what they are marketing it for in this ecomomic environment. Anyone who is considering Brooksby or any other Erickson community must ask the sales office what the average wait time is for one to get their money back. BUYER BEWARE!

Response: My daughter put me on the mailing list for that time when I might need to move here; I am not ready and have been trying to get off of their mailing list but keep getting tossed from person to person. Now that I've read all of this I would rather stay in my town home in Florida than move to a nightmare like this in MA. Not to mention the cold. I'd like to be close to my daughter but it doesn't seem worth taking a risk like the problems listed on this page.

Greed is the operative word at Brooksby Village. They nickel and dime you for everything. In the 8 years my father lived there, the quality and quantity of the services as well as the food went down, down, down while the fees went up, up, up. They brag about their "gourmet" meals which really are the same old stuff covered with different sauces as a disguise. And heaven forbid if you ask for an extra piece of bread in the cafe! Brooksby spends (wastes) barrels of money keeping the grounds looking nice, as well as the areas where the potential new tenants preview. The money would be better spent trying to please the people who live there. They put the squeeze on you to donate to a never-end list of funds. Look elsewhere.

My mothers experience at Brooksby village was mostly positive for the last three years of her life. The staff was very nice, however the management is terrible. We complained repeatedly about my mother's room smelling of cigarette smoke which was coming from the next apartment. Nothing was ever done to stop the problem. Her room reeked of tobacco smoke. Also we have been trying for 14 months to get her deposit back ( over $200,000) but the head of the management has refused to even return our phone calls. Think hard before you choose this place.

I agree. The same move out cost of $11,000 applies to all Erickson Propeties, including Linden Ponds where I used to live. The rents rise too much to keep up, and they charge fees for every little thing. I left because the social workers(henchmen)were going to force me into their Assisted Living area to the tune of $6,000 per month. They kept dogging me and forced me leave due to the stress. I moved to another community without all the rules and regulations, I am much happier now, but angry over the $11,500 they took from me to move out.

Response: The Delivery kids in the cafe repeatedly stole from me, and threatened to poison my food if i told anyone. there is NO decency in this nightmare factory. STAY AWAY!!

Response: My Mom is considering moving into Brooksby and the reviews posted here really scare me. I know you can't please all of the people all of the time but I live in a normal Condo environment and understand how manangement companies operate. It is very frustrating at times. Some of the accusations here seem very dangerous and heartless. Please help me understand how I can weed through these experiences and understand whether or not is a safe place for my Mom and her assets.
