Great for my husband and for me

“I’m 77 years old and my husband is quite disabled. It was a help for me having him in Dodge Park part time.

I also need to keep my social contacts as well so it’s been very good for both of us. The program there is excellent. They have a variety of different things which are therapeutic and socially helpful. He goes 3 times a week. My husband was always a very social person and it was hard for him not to see people all the time. By going over Dodge Park, he meets new friends and enjoys their company. He enjoys all the activities they have. There’s something different everyday. Most of the things they do are not only enjoyable but healthy in one way of another. He has a movement disorder so getting him to do things like painting and sculpting really helps his movements. He’s able to do more. It makes him feel like he is able to do something.”

    A big difference

“When I first determined that my husband had dementia and needed to be taken care of, I looked around the city for an adult day facility. I went to visit them and some of them were in basement of churches and people just sat around the table. Some of them didn’t start til 9 o’clock and I work and needed to be at work by 7am. When I went to Dodge Park, it was very homey. It felt like you were going into someone’s livng room. The adults that were there were playing games and working on projects. I saw a big difference in other adult day facilities.

The activities were varied. They do some active things like yoga and bowling. They have scuplturing and painting. They also have word games and card games in the afternoon and singalongs. I like it there because there’s a good variety of things. Some of the things my husband would say he doesn’t like but then something would come up that would catch his interest. I really like that. The staff is very helpful in letting me know what I could do to help make my husband be comfortable and for him to have a good experience there.”

“It is with great appreciation that we write to thank the staff and owners of Dodge Park for the outstanding care given to our 82 year old mother as she struggled with the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Our family first connected with Dodge Park when we looked at their day care services to give our father some relief from her care taking responsibilities. We knew Dodge Park was a perfect match for our family during the initial tour despite the fact that we had contacted several facilities in the Worcester area.

Dodge Park feels like a home and not an institution. The staff offers unconditional kindness and support to the residents. Our mother received the best of treatment from everyone starting with the Day Care and continuing through her stay as a resident.

The owners and staff have a remarkable but professional way to support and comfort the family and care for the resident. Our family faced some unique challenges during our mother’s stay that would have spun into a crisis if it had not been for the support of Dodge Park. They gave our family a huge sense of relief knowing that our mother was getting the best care possible. It is without hesitation that we would recommend Dodge Park Rest Home and Day Care to anyone needing help with the care of a loved one.”

Dodge Park Rest Home is a hidden jewel.
If you think of some outstanding organizations that set their goals in the stratosphere then consistantly meet those goals; that show their standards through the actions of every employee every day; that is Dodge Park.
My Dad is a current resident with some dementia. He is not confined to a "memory unit". He can freely
roam the entire facility safely, since all entrances/exits are locked and monitored. Plus, you can hardly walk 20 steps without seeing a Dodge Park caregiver! Dad can mingle with all 60 residents, almost one-third of them are men. I've heard him talking politics and sports. When his dementia gives him a "bad" day, his behavior can be beyond what would be tolerated at an assisted living facility. Yet, at Dodge Park he's seen as no trouble whatsoever.
He's always treated with kindness, respect and dignity.
The medical capabilities at Dodge Park are fantastic. When he wasn't steady on his feet, a physical therapist came to work with him on his balance. When he had chest congestion and a cough, a doctor and a nurse practitioner came to see him. X-rays were taken right there. Should he need to have blood drawn, they can do it. And at every junction I get a phone call with an update.
It would have seemed easier for me to put Dad in a place closer to my home in Springfield, MA. Yet having him at Dodge Park has proved to be the best for both him and me. Dad has the comforts of a "bed and breakfast" atmosphere. I have the peace of mind knowing that he's receiving first-rate care. My visits with him are still frequent, but are relaxed and pleasurable. All of the "logistics" of arranging
care for Dad are taken care of.
I would say that Dodge Park Rest Home is the gold standard in senior care. I'm so happy that I found them.
