My mom was at Bay Shores for rehab for a bad hip. While there she got sick from a norovirus that was epidemic there. She kept getting sicker and the nurses would not listen to me when I told them that she was not eating or drinking and was very weak and confused. They said that she seemed fine to them. She ended up severely hydrated and in acute renal failure and was put into the hospital. The nurses were always too busy to have time to pay much attention. They are understaffed.
The support staff is very friendly and caring and the place is quite nice to look at. The food is below par.

This is the second time my mother has been a patient at this facility. The facility is under staffed and residents wait unreasonable amounts of time for assistance with activities like toileting and dressing. On one occasion my mother was left on the commode without clothing for 35 minutes. No one responded to her call light. The aide that took her to the bathroom went off duty and did not tell anyone she was there. when administrators are contacted regarding care issues, they listen to complaints, but there are no improvements in the quality of care provided. Do not have your elderly family member placed here.
