This is NOT a good care home. Poor management, untrained staff. Many state investigations. Death of resident due to fall that could have been prevented. Owners are money hungry and have no business owning a care home. Their Livonia facility got shut down, hopefully Brighton does as well. They just change the name of facility. Please go someplace else, your loved one deserves better.

NEVER! put your loved ones there! the staff is very rough with residents and don't care or know how to take care of them properly! when a head nurse is called in it takes them 20 mins to come, or answer a call if its a busy night! UNDERSTAFED!

04/04/2012  -  An OurParents User Writes:

I would not recommend moving any of your loved ones into this facility. If so, choose building 1 or 2. Never 3 or 4. They dont care if your family member doesnt belong in a certain building they will just place them anywhere so they get their money. DO NOT choose Ashley Court.

01/13/2011  -  An OurParents User Writes:

Unlike the information provided, resident to staff ratio is 7-1 on a GOOD day. Many times it is 10-1 because of constant understaffing. On midnights, it is very often 20-1. Their website also states they employ two nurses when they now only staff one.

Response: In response to the review on 1/11 I must say that the care is excellent, there are two nurses and the director is also a nurse. There are also contracted nurses who specialize in skilled problems as well as hospice nurses in place 5 days a week. The staffing ratio is 1 to 6. The facility remains full and there are many happy residents and families. The reputation in the community is outstanding!

Response: As a former employee, I can say that you are lying if you say Ashley Court is not grossly understaffed. It is not the fault of the staff, but of management and a lazy, cheap owner.

Ashley Court - Bldg # 3 is an assisted living facility. Assisted living facilities are an apartment-style habitat designed to focus on providing assistance with daily living activities. They provide a higher level of service for the elderly which can include preparing meals, housekeeping, medication assistance, laundry, and also do regular check-in's on the residents. Basically, they are designed to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home facilities. When thinking about how to pay for care, assisted living facilities are generally less expensive than nursing homes, if assisted living is a viable option for your loved one.

Also, Ashley Court - Bldg # 3 facility provides Alzheimer's care. This means it has special safeguards for wandering seniors, and caregivers are trained in handling dementia behaviors.

Our facility is built around a courtyard that is open to residents to use as they wander. It is safe and secure, as is the entire facility. Our doors are alarmed and requires a keypad entry. The four buildings house 20 residents in each, thefore maintaining a more intimate and family type setting. Each building has their own dining area as well as great room/media room. Each building has a different level of dementia and Alzheimers care so moving to a different facility does not have to occur. We move the resident for the family when the time comes, to the most appropriate setting right on our campus. Our staffing ratios are higher than normal. 1 staff to 5 residents. We do criminal background checks and hire only those we feel possess the qualities to deliver compassionate care. The most important thing we offer is quality care with lots of TLC! The end of life care is offered through a local hospice service. We are located just one mile off of I-96 at the Grand River exit.
