The food is terrible. Every resident I spoke with says the same thing. There is no trained chef on duty, "give me a break". Hot roast beef sandwich with chicken-like gravy and meat so tough, you can not eat it. Eggs to "gag" on, servings in general, small, but who cares when food is terrible. You will for sure lose weight in this place.

My father spent some time there, with limited financial resources. The cannot seem to keep a resident manager. During the time that my father has been there, we have gone through 3 managers, 2 of whom worked diligently with me on trying to keep down costs and within my father's means. However, his contract expired at the end of 2012, and because of is declining health, we were doing things month by month while trying to work out, again, keeping his costs down with elevated level of care. Now comes the playing of games by the facility and charging an extra month that he's not there and saying he has a rollover contract, which there is no verbage within his last contract indicating or stating his contract will roll over. Hence, the fight begins. I wouldn't recommend this place, even though they pretty much took decent care of daddy. The management cannot get their crap together!!

Do not send anyone to this facility for care. We were looking for a place for my Dad to go after knee replacement surgery and we were mislead that they would be able to care for him. Even the social worker at Bellin Hospital called and spoke with them to make sure they could handle his needs and they were even able to mislead her as she reassured us that they could take care of his needs. We brought him there on Sunday afternoon and it was obvious right from the time of getting him out of the car that the staff was not trained to handle him. After we left my Dad around 8:30 at nite we went back to my Moms and talked about what we should do and we decided to give them 3 days because this was the least that they had to pay for. However, at 1:30 a.m.I received a call from an employee stating that he was short of breath and felt like he wasn't getting enough oxygen and wanted an ambulance. She then asked me "what do you want me to do! Needless to say, I told her to call the ambulance. Once I arrived at the ER he told me that he pulled his help cord and no one ever came to help him. The social worker at our hospital told us this is not the first time an incident like this has happened. He refused to go back there and with the help of the hospital social worker she was able to find another facility to take him.
Not only was he not cared for, but the manager of the facility told my Mother what the cost would be each day for his stay. Within a couple of hours of getting there, the RN saw my sister and I in the parking lot and preceded to tell us that she would be back at 7pm to do an assesment because there would be added fees. She did indeed come back and upset all of us even to the point of my Dad asking her if we could do this at another time (he was laying in bed trying to rest) and she just continued on with her speel.
It is very apparent that this facility is all about the money and not about the care as there is NO CARE!
I cannot even give Northwoods Assisted Living one star but it forced me to give it a rating in order to leave this review.

This place has the worst management. This place cut their employees down to one, and my mother fell and she was on the floor for 2 hours before they found her. This place is run so poorly. Do not send anyone there.
