Understaffed facility. My parent presses the call light and no one comes. I have to go physically find a staff member. I empty the bed pan or that wouldn't get done either. My parent was there 3 weeks and lost weight. The food is deplorable. Management is arrogant, especially the social worker that we met with. She just wanted to know all about the finances of my parent. She was not interested in my parent's well being or seeing any improvement. Maybe all nursing care homes are like this. I would avoid this one It's a warehouse for the elderly. They only want your money. Too many residents; not enough workers. Perhaps Bay County has laid them all off.

Poor quality of care. Rude staff members. Odor throughout building. Family member waited over 30 minutes to have call light answered. Food is awful. Not recommended. See under state reviews.

Description of Bay County Medical Care Facility in ESSEXVILLE, MI

Number of Beds : 206

Senator John Glenn once said, “Too many people, when they get old, think they have to live by the calendar.” A rejection of ‘calendar living’ perfectly describes the kind of world the senior living industry creates for millions of Americans over 55. Senior living is a lifestyle of personal choice. Those in senior living communities are never beholden to the calendar. They are free to be as active or inactive as they wish. If they want to relax and watch TV, they are free to do that, too. If they are healthy and independent and wish only to take advantage of fine housing, home-cooked meals, and cleaning services, they are free to do so. If they need assistance with some aspects of daily living, that type of community is available, too. Senior living also includes housing for those who require daily medical care as well as care for seniors who want to stay in their own homes. A well-organized system of care, senior living welcomes you for what YOU want to do.
