This review is for Continuing Care at Fox Run, formerly known as Renaissance Gardens.

I had both mom and dad living here since Fall 2015. Have had numerous issues that never get resolved--the biggest one is lack of communication and follow up with staff. As another reviewer pointed out, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!

My dad recently passed away as a result from complications from a fall at this facility. A "care plan" was written, but the staff did not implement it. His fall and death could have and should have been prevented. They also did not give him any medical treatment for his third fall--we had him taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with 3 broken ribs and had severe sepsis with an almost 102 fever!

The state just did an investigation and has downgraded their Scope/Severity rating to a "G" (ratings go from A thru L, so a G is not for good"). The state found them guilty of not providing a safe environment and proper supervision to prevent accidents.

Overall, there are many shortcomings with this place:
1. Lack of communication between staff members, and staff and family
2. Lack of accountability - there is always an excuse. No one ever really accepts responsibility when something is wrong (which seems to be weekly!)
3. Small resident rooms--bathrooms not set up to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers
4. Dining room--very crowded and cramped. Not designed for residents in wheelchairs. The food is subpar. My mom gained over 40 pounds in 8 months! Then they ask US to choose her weekly menu--they have a dietition on staff--shouldn't SHE do that??
5. Rehabilitation department--seems like they do not want to do rehab. After 10 visits they stop when resident is "not progressing". I have done PT many times--I know it can take weeks of therapy for improvement. My mom went to Continuing Care at Fox Run after a fall--she is still in a wheelchair due to lack of therapy,
6. Lots of turnover with aides.
7. Activities: it is not uncommon to see most of the residents lined up in front of the TV.

They have had meetings earlier this year to address the many issues that many of the families share. I have not seen any real tangible changes regarding the issues that were addressed in these meetings.

Perhaps they should spend more money on staff and training, rather than the landscaping.

The med techs at this facility are awesome. The problem is that there are not enough of them and the residents do not get the care that they need. Unless you have someone who is going to be visiting alot I would not leave your loved one at this facility.

I have escalated up to the senior leadership team at Erickson Living (CEO) only to see my concerns fall on deaf ears. How bad must my situation be that I would escalate to the CEO? If you love your family member, do NOT put them here.....your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Fox Run Renaissance Gardens provides good care of residents who are ambulatory. Once your family members health starts to decline it is unsatisfactory. They are not sufficiently staffed, their aides do not follow procedures, and residents are often left to fend for themselves or do not receive care. Unfortunately, the independent living facility of Fox Run is the feeder system for Rennaisance Gardens, and the residents of independent living move to assisted living etc. My Mom just died at Rennaisance Gardens after receiving very poor care by the aides and nursing staff. I repeatedly escalated issues, and they were never sufficiently handled.
Do not be fooled by Fox Run's appearance....their residents are not as well cared for as their landscaping.

Response: I forgot to mention that my mother lived at Fox Run for 5 years and Rennaissance Gardens for 3 years. She was in hospice for 90 days and I spent 90 days there 22 hours a day so I saw first hand what was going on. They do have many excellent aides who are very caring but they are understaffed. Procedures are not followed. You do NOT get what you pay for here at Rennaisance Gardens.

I happened to come across this site and simply couldn't believe what I was reading. My mother had back surgery a little over a year ago and spent two weeks at Fox Run's Renassiance Gardens facility.
For the first week, I never left her so I saw 24/7 care there. I simply cannot find words to praise the folks that 'work' there...and they WORK. At 2AM I saw a staff member working on the computer, holding the hand of a resident who was sitting beside her. This resident didn't just pull up a chair to join the staff member...it was obvious. I could go on with all the little details that I saw at every turn.
RG is a "nursing home" type setting, but the atmosphere was that of an upscale hotel where the patients were treated as GUESTS/Residents...and a LOT of these "guests" had only the staff to love on them...not many family members stuck around. Every single aspect of my mother's care was well above and beyond AWESOME. It continued on even after I had to return to Tennessee.
I guess the best way to express how I felt about my mother's stay...when I returned home, my husband and I met with our financial advisor and purchased Long Term care insurance so that we will be able to stay at Fox Run (or a place like it) when we need it.
Keep up the unbeleiveable work that takes SPECIAL, SPECIAL folks to do. You made ALL the difference in the quality of the remainder of my mother's life.

Response: Glad your mom had a good stay. The short term rehab where she was is vastly different form the long-term care floor.

No communication with family at all!!! This place just wants money, they do not care about their patients. Dogs get better care at the kennel. Look elsewhere!!

I had an elderly family member residing here and the care is mediocre. The facility is new and presents better than it is.
When she neared the end of her medicare stay, they pressured us to sign her up for the $99,000 resident deposit.

My mother stayed in Renaissance Gardens and for the money we pay, it's not great. Anytime we visited, the residents are sitting around doing nothing. Never once did we see them doing an activity other than eating or watching tv.

A parent with alzheimer's - Dirty room, unkind/rude staff. All kinds of promises to fix their problems with no long term positive results. Frustrating, demeaning, demoralizing and sad for all concerned considering this is my parents final journey.
